Just a silly question..can the LX2 take a movie? And if so, can the zoom function be used while filming?

Just tried... the movie mode is pretty alright but the zoom wasnt usable...

Thanks Wolfgang. Wonder why Panasonic disables this in the LX2. It is suppose to work in TZ1 and FZ7

eh why quote me? :dunno:

anyway this is what i get for Tz1 from Dpreview

"The TZ1 offers movie capture at sizes up to 840 x 480 pixels (widescreen VGA) at 30 frames per second and, unusually, you can use the optical zoom whilst filming."]
as for FZ7... eh i think i mistaken haha, cannot zoom during movie
:embrass:

Was just checking zoom does not function in FZ7 either but it works in the TZ1

The fiercely fast linear auto-focus system

The TZ1 is the first Lumix model to adopt a Linear AF system which, combined with the high speed AF function, achieves an industry-leading high speed AF response time among high zoom digital cameras, whilst reducing the noise of the motor. The superior AF capabilities also enable an increased speed in continuous AF, allowing easy and precise focusing even when shooting moving subjects. It is now even possible to zoom in while recording motion images. Together with the TZ1’s overall quick response time and the power of the Venus Engine III, this linear AF system also contributes to a super fast start-up time of 0.95sec. The speed in which this camera operates means you’ll be able to capture special moments, spontaneously.

that makes the TZ1 even more superior... 10x zoom, zooming during movie mode, and at a very compact size... ;p

No offence ExplorerZ..just that you mention it in that thread. The LX2 and TZ1 are suppose to have the same engine and almost similar case. Wonder why Panasonic left it out?? It would be a nice feature to have.

i dono... maybe it is due to the construction of lens... tz1 got a unique construction which is very different from any other lumix

you might want to look at this, this is the lens construction of tz1

In that case, all the black ones from other parts of the world must have been shipped to Singapore since I seem to see only black ones in all the stores. :)
