Can I confirm, LX1 can only take pictures in RAW + JPEG right? It can't take RAW alone? I also wanted to experiment using RAW, but using RAW + JPEG is going to take up hell a lot of memory space..

If u take RAW, it will come with a JPEG file. Don't really bother me much since 1GB SD card will allow me to shoot about 60+ pictures. Most of the time this is sufficient else I'll just carry another 1GB card.

Shoot in JEPG only if u wanna save space lor... but I don't see the point if u're shooting with LX1. U can only get the most out of the LX1 only if u shoot in RAW. If u really wanna save, then must well buy a cheaper 3MP camera that offers only JPG file.

OK tks.. Just wanted to confirm that, if on long holidays, may tend to run out of space :)

Get a portable backup harddisk lor.... more economical than getting extra SD cards.
The last time I went Bangkok, I rented one for about $30 for a week.

Will consider that.. Tks..

Hi there,

just bought a black LX1 at the IT show, $999 with 2 x 512 cards, mini tripod, lens cleaner, screen protector, case and photo papers.

is this a good deal ? i see lower prices quoted in this thread...

anyway the pics in this thread are really beautiful, i think i made the right choice with the LX1.

Since u have already bought it, let's 4get about the price but start enjoy using it. :)

If i dun have a dSLR, the Lumix LX-1 will be surely my choice of camera. I really like the design, the looks of it & of course the features.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1033&message=17540479 ... it's more like a speculation..

but

"Someone on this forum (wiztyger?) had spoken to his local
Panny customers service (a few months ago) about the noise
and they said they would address that issue by releasing a
replacement for the LX1 already during spring 2006."

Hmmm...just hope that the noise issue is resolved. Meanwhile, I will await for its offical announcement and monitor Fuji, F30.

My wish list for LX2 is:

1. Better noise control and thus can offer higher ISO
2. Faster shooting rate
3. Smaller RAW file

good cameraman, good photo and good cam :)

Straight out from the cam, I think I like LX1 images best.

i felt canon images although high res and low noise, they are usually dull looking. of cos, i like the look of ure M6 with summicron lens. LX1 seems to be quite close to what the M6 is able to acheive

why doesnt lx1 photo embody exif?

300D got the tougher job here since it has two bright lights in the corner to contend with...
