Lucky Kid, or Spoilt Kid?

point made in first post,

i know a lot of rich kids who are down to earth, they have branded goods, but it's just that they have it, they don't deliberately seek it out nor do they put others down because of it.

that said, there are also many rich kids who are spoilt and snobbish.

I know alot of poor kids who are *******s

hahaha

hahaha

that too

but you don't see people going

"poor kids are so spoilt!"

we are such an objective, sour society :) how one behaves has nothing to do with wealth. zilch, zippo, nothing. big fat zero.

Yes, lots of kids today are spoiled.

But regarding your reactio0n ...

What do you guys think of dads buying D300 for a Sec 1 Kid cos he is in a photography club?

its his first DSLR..

its been an hour since i got to know about it, but i am still frankly, quite in shock...

ok.. maybe i have been hiding in my shell for too long.. but goodness me. i got a shock when i got to know about it.

and they were juz like 50cm away from me.. i almost fainted. and i could only afford a D80 at age 25.....

You have answered your own question.

Sucks isn't it. But that is life.

You can't insult poor people. Because poor people are always to be pitied and are never bad.
Poor people are never poor due to their own faults. Always blame life
Rich people are always bad. Rich people are disgusting. Rich people seem to get money magically without doing a hard day's work.

Don't see a problem with it. If the boy has a talent, why not cultivate it from young?
Some of the most professional photographers probably started even younger!

There's a fine line between shock and jealousy :bsmilie:

(As for my reaction, it'd fall under both )

Why are you shocked? :) If you see an 8 year old using a D3,will you get a heart attack?

Anyway this 13 yr old might have asked his dad for a D90 or a 2nd hand D40 but his dad chose a D300 for him as in the long run it makes better sense? I have a friend who drove a Ferrari to school and he did not ask for it. His dad chose and bought it to him. Nowadays seeing kids with expensive stuff is nothing so you have to get used to being shocked. :)

If I saw it, I'd say "lucky kid", then go out and shoot some more :)

I once saw a probably primary school kid holding a D300, together with his dad @ Botanic Gardens. They were shooting together. Keep the dad company. :bsmilie:

My parents always tell me...

"You are so lucky to have such good parents. Photography is an expensive hobby. But better than mixing around with bad company."

:bsmilie:

Isn't the people here bad company? Spreading the BBB virus. ;p

Jealous kids :D

They call it abalone minced meat noodles but the abalone is fake. :bsmilie:

I'm jealous of your breakfast too. :(

i pretend i @@ no evil and hear no evil...

actually, I do think kids are pretty spoilt these days.

Seriously, I just have a baby girl and I think I will not give her many gifts when she grow up. If I want to splurge on her, maybe bring her overseas for tours and experience. My sister's boy has soooo many toys that he longer treasure any of them. Quite sad actually.

I think material gifts should be few and far between so that the kid learn how to treasure them and not take for granted.
