I recently bought the flipside 300 from J3:16 for about SG$130. i didn't research prices before I purchased, so I hope I didn't get ripped off.

It's a decent backpack and it's just the right size for my needs- can carry a pentax k100ds with sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6, a pancake DA40 f/2.8 Ltd and the DA 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens with space to spare. I have no external flash unit. There is also a zippered storage compartment inside. The opening is on the rear side of the backpack, so it's quite secure if you are travelling.

It can also hold a small tripod on the outside, but my manfrotto 190xproB simply does not fit.

My only complaint so far would be the lack of an external zip pocket on the front. It has a net pouch and storage compartment on the sides, but another zippered pocket on the body would have been nice.

On the whole, 8/10 so far as my needs are concerned.

hi, i when to check it out. the design looks funny...?

This design is from snowboarding packs where you've the access from the back as the snowboard will be put at the front.

Just got the flipside 300 from john 3:16. Tested it with 40D + batt grip + 17-40 f4L. Fit nicely.

Pros
- latest design and looks elegant
- comfort and security
- slim, tall and fit. not bulky.
- can fit camera with batt grip and 70-200mm lens attached and a few lenses and an external flash
- tripod holder

Cons
- Zippers not as smooth as other model

total score: 9/10

hi,may i know how much u got it for?

TIA:)
same price as skypacker mentioned. CP quoted 135 and no further discount. But J3:16 only has red and black colors

gotten the flipside 200
the price is $105 from john3:16 and CP

fit my D80 with its kit lens attached and an extra 70-300 lens with space to space for my sb600

the bag is not deep enough to fit the d80 with its batt grip and lens attached

overall find it a nice compact bag that is comfortable and able to pack in 1 body and 1-2 lens/ 1 lens + 1 flash and some other small accessories nicely. though i cant say much abt the access of the bag, to access the camera is not that very friendly as u need to put the bag down.

there are 2 side pockets, 1 for your mem cards and anything small and flat else u have a hard time closing the zip, the other pocket is a stretch pouch which can just nice fit a 500ml bottle but u feel like it might tear the pocket as it really stretch it.

there is also a tripod holder at the front to strap down a tripod, with a tripod strap down and the legs holding pocket out to hold the tripod legs in place, the bag cannot stand on its base.

max i packed in before is my D80 with 18-135 attached + 70-300 + 50 prime + sb600 + batt grip(not attached) + blower + brush + torchlight + 4 x AA batt

icic thanks for the feedback guys!!!! :D

do you reckon the flipside 300 will fit the above configuration?

can the flipside 300 be carry onboard the aircaft as a hand-carry?

Hi,
Just bought a flipside 300 and tried putting in some gears last nite for a dry run.
Managed to put in a D300 with grip mounted with a 70-200mm (no lens hood mounted), a 17-55mm (with lens hood reversed), a SB800 with 5th battery compartment and 50mm. Still got some space for other accessiories like TC and charger.

Cheers and Happy New Year's Eve!!

So far no problem with the accessing, and yes have to place on sumwhere to take out the stuff inside. But there is a big handle on the bag which u can hold on to and use ur other hand to access the inside of the bag.
