Hey!
I guess we have to settle for existing products, as any new successor will be priced out of our budget... Sad~~
New models are usually priced no higher than the models they replace when those were new, unlike lenses.
Not really true, it will always be an increment if it's a stepup. Not much, but significant enough
haha, now i try to pyscho myself to get 7d.. omg
I started with the 400D just like you and upgraded to a 50D about 1.5 years after that. I find that it fits my hand better and I very much enjoy the extra wheel at the back. Makes setting adjustments much faster. 50D is a great cam, my only grouse is that I wished the on/off switch was on the top dial, like the 400D. I decided to keep the 400D because it is not worth that much anymore on the 2nd hand market. Besides I like the small size because sometimes its size is a plus. Also some places that I travel to, with the 400D it does not attract so much attention. It still takes grest pictures and gets the job done. The biggest diff I noticed between the 2 is that the 50D has better noise control at higher ISOs. Other than that it is the higher fps, but it is hardly used. The other diff is that with the bigger files it takes longer to download and open each file when you shoot RAW.
Dont be in a chase for electronics. Buy what you need not what features that the next cam has. It has no use if you have them but don't use them. You might as well invest in better lenses. In a year's time, whatever camera you have will have been surpassed by some other model with better tech. It never ends....
im currently using a 500D, for a few months, and im thinking of upgrading at the end of the year. I'm thinking of getting a 50D with 24-70 f/2.8L or 70-200f/2.8L. But I'm also itching to upgarde to the FF 5DMarkII with the 70-200 straight away. I'm also thinking of getting a 580EX. Anyone has any advice? Sorry for crashing your thread, TS.. =(
Hi Fantasy,
Yeah, i really feels that the 50D grip will fit me better. On the other hand, i brought my 400D for a 16 days backpacing trip in Japan is already very taxing for my body. Not forgetting the heavy winter jackets which i have worn. After a day outside, ur neck and shoulder really aches like hell. Maybe its time to build up muscle. haha~~
Always? 5D was US$3300 when released, 5D2 was US$2700 when released, if I remember correctly.
Cause you cant compare when it was both released. You need to compare with the current prices now
Hm.. actually i prefer the built of 50D the most, fits my hands perfectly.
Yup, read from the forum that 50D should be given a miss. As for 7D, slightly too bulky for me, and the price.
Well, i guess there is no perfect answer to my needs. :embrass:
