rate is $8/hr?
Any commission on the photos sold to customer?

If event lasts for 3 hrs, only $24? If take taxi there and return home after midnight, probably costs more than $24. Am I missing something?

Must be a typo error.

No way can it be $8 per hour, which is only 1/10th the $80 per hour minimum that event photographers are charging.

Hopefully TS can clarify.

comeon im sure $8 is a joke. The lowest i charge as a newbie would already have been $60/hr. And anyone with two years experience would not take up the job at this pay rate.

maybe that's mars dollars and mars hour?

Another means to exploit fellow CSers. :nono:

I am a professional photographer myself and I pay my fresh part-timers at $25/hr rate (which is considered quite low to some). I pay my regular part-timers at $30/hr rate.

For example, I got commissioned to shoot a local wedding recently. My part-timer assisted me for almost 10 hours (I bought 3 cans of Redbull Classic for them). Even though he stayed less than 10 hours (9 2/3 hours to be exact) I still pay him full 10 hours rate which is $300.
That's why my part-time assistant stay with me for the past 2.5 years.

Those who have been in the wedding knows that the amt is nver equal to the amt time spend . in this case TS may have exploited too much of it.. Come on.. that is PEANUTS.. 2 yrs in shooting event and u are paying peanuts to them..

a case of professional photographer killing the market more than a newbie photographer undercharging?

I also think its a typo.

If its really $8/hr, then its better off work in MacD. No wear and tear on your gear, and have aircon for sure. Who cares about the 'experience' with this pay :dunno:

I'll work!!! PM me! I'll work for $4/hr!!!

I'm sure its a typo error. We're not talking about the position of a photographer assistant; but in this case is Assistant Photographer. Even if its the former, they deserved to be paid more. Gotta be kidding....

I almost fainted...
this kind of offer from from a major player in the market in the market some more!!

Our company's identity cannot be revealed. Just say that its a major player in the market.
This survey would play a partial role in the company direction and policy.;)

Yeah, thats one of the downsides in CS.

Its not been the first. Many upstarts who are, in the process of trying to gain exposure and portfolio, even offer to do it for free.

Worse yet when some of these "newbies" are actually quite decent photographers who should start charging semi-pro rates but they still do FOC work.

Of course with payment usually comes higher expection from client side while with FOC work, the client does not have much grounds for complaining, demanding.

As they say, pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

Give the TS a chance to reply.

It could really be a sincere case of a typo error.

Perhaps they were offering $80/hour, but accidentally left out the '0'?

Afterall, ther are asking for 2 years' experience, semi-pro body, flash and a constant f/2.8 lens minimum, so I would guess that the bare minimum hourly rate is $80, which is still low, but probably definitely more decent than $8/hr.

it's been a week and no reply???

This is an open market and anyone is free to make an offer and similarly take up the offer.

The TS has openly stated the requirements as well as the remuneration, so let us just respect it as such and no need to OT.

Thank You
