Long Exposure

that's really long bro. if it were that dark, why not remove your nd110 and go for 30s? that'll be enough to smoothen out the water if you ask me. :)

I wanted to try capturing the colors of the sky as it transits from almost nothing to sunrise, battery ran out right before the sun came out  was supposed to hit around 20 minutes.

you have vertical distortion in that last picture, can be seen in the reflections. ;)

The horizon was not center so I guess that caused the distortion, did not notice that, thank you :)

East Coast Park

Thought this shot was ruined when some fisherman decided to shine his torch right at the front of my camera during a hour long exposure, so cut it short at 45 minutes.

Turned out pretty alright.

Can't see anything on the groundglass so had to guesstimate the composition. Need to get a dark cloth.

Love these two photographs. Well done

Was wondering how u determine the exposure length. Is there a formula?

For digital, its quite straight forward, for example if it's a 1/30 exposure, with a 10 stop filter it would become 30 seconds.

For film, you have to factor in the reciprocity failure of the film into the exposure timings. For most films, you have to factor in extended exposure timings after 1 second. For example, for a measured exposure of 30 seconds with Tri X 400, to get the correct exposure, you would need to expose the film for 210 seconds.
