Milan star Gattuso dimisses 'long-ball' Liverpool

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has dismissed Champions League final opponents Liverpool as a 'long ball' side.

Gattuso and his team-mates saw off Manchester United in the semi-finals this week to set up a repeat of the 2005 final, when Liverpool recovered from 3-0 down at half-time to win on penalties.

Of the two sides, former Rangers midfielder Gattuso believes United are the better team and accused Liverpool of using outdated tactics.

He said: 'I feel there is a noticeable difference in talent between Manchester United and Liverpool and that we have beaten the better side of the two.

'United have far more technical players, who are quick and able to do things on the ball. Liverpool do not have those individuals.

'What they have is a way of playing as a team. They are like an Italian team of 10 years ago. All they try to do is defend together, with everybody behind the ball and just one striker. Every ball is a long ball.'

Another great omen abt the final...Liverpool will wear the most famous RED jersey in the world for the final!!! We wore red also in Istanbul when we won the 5th CL...

i dont think we r a long ball team..we have variations in our play...we now can play long ball...via Gerrard or Alonso...we can also play short...or thru the wings now that we have Zenden n Pennant to supply crosses...the most long ball team should be chelski...with drogba the main target...why gattuso mentioned Liverpool as long ball team is bcos Milan will find it hard to cope with Pool frontmen in Crouch n Kuyt as both r good in the air and not everyweek Milan encounter teams with good frontmen...he mentioned bcos they are afraid they cant cope...i know chelski cant cope...thats why Jose keep on mentioning Crouch is 2m tall when drogba is only 2 inches shorter...COMMON REDS...
