Reina's house ransacked during victory

The home of Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina was burgled last night while he played in his side's Champions League semi-final against Chelsea.

The Spaniard booked Liverpool's place in the final by saving two out of three penalties in a shoot-out.

He returned from the celebrations at 12.45am to find that his home in Woolton, Liverpool, had been ransacked.

Jewellery, a Bang and Olufsen entertainment system, personal documents and a grey Porsche Cayenne with Spanish number plates were taken.

The Porsche was found burnt out in the West Derby area of Liverpool at 6.30am, according to Merseyside Police.

Reina did not want to comment.

The burglary follows a trend of footballers' homes being targeted, often when they are playing matches.

The Merseyside home of Jerzy Dudek, Liverpool's goalkeeper from the 2005 Champions League final penalty shoot-out, was burgled in June 2006.

He was on holiday in Poland when thieves took his Porsche car, jewellery and football memorabilia, including his European Cup medal.

Daniel Agger, who scored for Liverpool last night, had his Wirral home burgled in September last year.

Reds striker Peter Crouch's house in Alderley Edge was targeted in the same month while he was on England duty.

Everton winger Andy van der Meyde was burgled twice last year, including one raid in which his pedigree puppy was taken.

Wayne Rooney also lost memorabilia, including his BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year trophy, when his parents' Liverpool home was burgled in July 2006.

It is getting more and more like a repeat of 2005. Liverpool's goalkeepers' home were robbed, Liverpool narrowly beat Chelsea in the semis, Liverpool meeting Milan in the finals..... Any more similarities?? Liverpool beat Milan in the finals:bsmilie: ha ha

milan were great from the get go. but honestly, if they faced a full-strength manu side, i think the outcome slightly different. manu didn't have enough experienced players on the pitch, milan full of them.

our match against chelsea was evenly matched. both sides have injuries to key players. i wouldn't say chelsea have more players injured because they have a larger squad than ours. plus our chelsea nemesis, luis garcia is out for the season.

in 2005, our team just starting to get used to rafa and his style and tactics. now, just look at how they follow rafa's manual against chelsea.

i hope it won't be a istanbul part II. the heart and minds can't take that kind of stress.

it will be a great match. milan will want revenge for 2005's loss. we will want to show that it wasn't a fluke.

ynwa.

i like the parts highlighted in RED.

To all my fellow LFC fans:

As much as I want to see us triumph over Milan again, I feel that there shouldnt be any complacency in the club players nor the fans. Yes, I am happy that the Reds have reached the finals against Milan but I dont feel that Milan are any weaker than the summer of May 26, 2005. Over the 2 legs of Milan and Manure, KaKa (running around like no one cares) and company had been very dangerous. Gattuso also is a more cultured DM then the past. In fact my respects to Milan for scoring 5 goals past Manure is something we cannot do, to some aspects the Reds can but lack the critical finishing.

Nevertheless, I still hope to see the Reds finished off Milan within 90 mins cos although the Reds have a winning culture (as spoken by ESPN sports editior last night), but always relying on that wont help unless the player help themselves. This is also something the coach always must remind the players

Lastly, let's embaced and joy over the win against Chelski and got the opponents we wanted. But the club and players and we fans must never get carried away. One Istanbul doesnt mean always the same, Club/Players/Fans should treat it seriously and play to win.

You'll Never Walk Alone... :)

For a team who always bark on being the most attacking side...cant comeback from 3-0??? Well...i dont mind Liverpool being very defensive but can comeback from the dead of 0-3 to win the cup...GO GO GO GO GO GO LIVERPOOL...BRING BACK OUR BIG EARS...

:bsmilie: our legs dun shake and our heads dun hang at the most crucial time. :bsmilie:

by the way, 3-2 deficit is 'almost like a 0-0'. :bsmilie:
