Liverpool plan improved offers for Ashley Young and Charlie Adam as Fernando Torres departure looks increasingly likely - report
Liverpool are beginning to plan for life without Fernando Torres as they look to spend the money generated from the World Cup winner's departure.
Liverpools softening stance on Torres departure has alerted Chelsea, who look set to increase their bid of £35million on Monday.
The west London club are still not willing to pay the £50m that Liverpool seem to be after but they are hopeful of finding a resolution after the Reds indicated they would be favourable towards a cash plus Nicolas Anelka deal.
The Frenchman is not keen on the move to Liverpool, according to Sky Sports, but Chelsea have been encouraged by Liverpools supposed willingness to negotiate on Torres transfer.
According to the Guardian, Liverpool will increase their bid for Blackpools wantaway captain, Charlie Adam, on Monday. The Merseyside club have had a £4m bid rejected by the Lancashire club but are willing to bid up to £10m to get their man.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has indicated previously that an offer of £10m would be considered by the club who paid 20 times less than the proposed selling fee.

In a week in which Torres demanded the route be cleared for his Anfield exit, the un-named player also said the personality of the World Cup winner sometimes raised eyebrows at the training ground.

Torres, who reached the 50 goal mark in just 72 games for Liverpool, was forgiven for his selfishness as a result of his undoubted ability, according to the source.

Torres is said to be furious with his agent for putting in the transfer request AFTER Liverpool had done the deal to sign Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez from Ajax.
Now unless Liverpool are tempted by a near £60m bid for the Spanish World Cup winner's services, with Chelsea the only name in the frame at the moment, it is likely the two parties will get their heads together and work out a peace deal.
The prospect of Torres teaming up with Suarez is a mouth-watering one and he may be persuaded to stay, even though he is thought to be desperate to join a club where he can achieve his dream of winning trophies. That won't be helped by the fact that Liverpool are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season but with Suarez alongside him the trophy-winnig days might not be too far away if all parties can be patient.

The report could well be true since Torres was away in Spain when Chelsea came in with the bid.
I do hope that Torres's heart is still with Liverpool. Now with Suarez a done deal and if Torres does indeed remain at Liverpool, a solid strike partnership can be formed.
Torres lack of form after his injury has spread to into the World Cup. If he is somebody who truly wanted to leave Liverpool, having such poor form is not going to do him any good. So I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt and fans should get behind him if indeed there is miscommunication with his agent.
