works both ways. the tag too big for him and his head did get too big because of the tag.

the only french player who could make it if given a decent run was pongolle. maybe not first team starting eleven but should be able to make the bench.

sell carson, rubber buang-is-tense agrees.

RAFA READY TO SELL CARSON

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez concedes he will not stand in Scott Carson's way should he wish to make his loan move to Aston Villa permanent.

Carson has impressed everyone at Villa Park since joining Martin O'Neill's side in the summer on a season-long loan.

His excellent form has prompted an England call-up and he is expected to make his first international start on Friday evening against Austria.

However, Benitez has always maintained that Jose Reina is his first choice and with this in mind, is ready to let Carson quit Anfield.

A deal is in place for Carson's loan move to turn into a permanent arrangement, at a figure thought to be in the region of £10million, and it does now look as though his future lies away from Merseyside.

"You can understand that he wants to play. He knows Pepe Reina is top class and that it will be difficult for him to play here," said Benitez on the club's official website.

"Scott is a good professional and a nice boy. This is a crucial time in his career and he needs to play. At the moment we are concentrating on our own team and our own competitions, but Villa can decide if they want to keep the player.

"At the moment we have Pepe, Charles Itandje and David Martin as goalkeepers so we can manage the situation okay."

he thinks he's performing well. wa kauz!

KUYT - I`VE BEEN TOP PERFORMER

Dirk Kuyt has claimed he has been one of Liverpool's top performers this season.

The Dutch striker has come in for some criticism for his performances so far this term, particularly after missing several chances in their 0-0 draw with Blackburn earlier this month.

Kuyt has scored just two goals in the league (two penalities against Everton) this season, but still thinks that his all round game has been good.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "I can understand the criticism. It makes sense since I missed three great chances against Blackburn Rovers.

"But people say that I'm in crisis, and to them I must respond that I don't feel that way.

"If you list the players at Liverpool who've shown their best form so far this season, I'd be among the top ones."

Kuyt became a victim of Rafa Benitez's rotation policy for the recent games against Besiktas and Fulham, but isn't complaining about finding himself out of the starting line-up:

"Liverpool's rotation system means that often you cannot play two consecutive games. The manager believes that players need to be rested, and so he rotates us.

"I knew that this would happen when I arrived at Anfield, and if we finish the season in amongst the silverware then Benitez's decision will have been proved right.

"You won't catch me complaining about it."

the return of AGGER!!

AGGER CLOSE TO REDS RECALL

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger could make his comeback at Newcastle in the club's first match after the international break.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been out since early September and has missed 13 matches with a broken metatarsal.

Agger was ruled out of the Denmark squad this week and said: "I'm not going off with my country but I would hope to be ready to play for Liverpool after the international break."

Manager Rafael Benitez is confident the defender is ready for a return at St James's Park in the lunch-time kick-off on November 24.

"Agger is improving a lot, and he has started running now," said the Spaniard.

Yossi Benayoun, who has been ruled out of Israel's clash with Russia on Saturday with a groin problem, also has a chance of facing Newcastle.

"Yossi is working with the physios now. We will have to see if he is fit for Newcastle, it's still too early to say," added the manager.

"He and Agger are maybes but perhaps it will be easier for Agger than for Benayoun."

However, Xabi Alonso, also out with a metatarsal problem, has already been ruled out of the visit to Newcastle.

Benitez added: "Xabi should start running in the next week but he is a 'no' for Newcastle, for sure."
