Baup: Toulouse have nothing to fear at Anfield


Toulouse go into their daunting examination against Liverpool at Anfield tonight with nothing to lose, according to their coach Elie Baup.

It will require something very special from the French side if they are to qualify for the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history.

The Reds stamped their authority on the third round qualifying tie with an assured performance in the first leg, which they won 1-0 thanks to a spectacular strike from Ukraine international Andriy Voronin.

It makes them favourites to complete the task tonight but Baup - buoyed after seeing his side come from behind to draw 1-1 against Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday - insists all is not lost.

'We are going to go to Liverpool to do something, otherwise there is hardly any point in going over there,' said the former Bordeaux coach, who claims he will put in place a 'strategy to surprise' at Anfield.

'We must retain our organisation and we are going to have to relax.

'But mentally we are there after coming back to draw against Nice. That is going to help improve our state of mind.'

Andre-Pierre Gignac, the scorer of the late equaliser against Nice, could be handed a starting spot alongside Johan Elmander.

Herita Ilunga returns after missing the first leg because of suspension and he should displace Mohamed Fofana at centre-back.

But Baup is still without Dominique Arribage (knee), Daniel Congre (shoulder) and Albin Ebondo (thigh), who all missed the draw at Nice and have not been named in the 18-man squad.
