Torres believes his decision to join LIVERPOOL is the right one!
New Liverpool striker Fernando Torres insists he will get over his tearful exit from Madrid to help Liverpool fulfil his lofty ambitions.
The highly-rated Spain international, 23, clinched a move to Anfield last week for a reported £20million and will be expected to help fire the Reds to a genuine Premier League title challenge and further continental success after two Champions League finals in three years.
And the former Atletico Madrid striker insists he would not have considered a move to Merseyside unless he was convinced by the club's ability to compete for the game's most prestigious honours.
'At my club (Atletico) I couldn't achieve my aspirations,' he told Sky Sports News.
'I thought Liverpool's offer would give me the most at this stage of my career.'
Torres claims he was also swayed by Liverpool's Spanish contingent, including boss Rafael Benitez, and the club's passionate support.
He added: 'There is the manager and many of the technical staff who speak my language, it makes it much easier to adapt.
'Also there is the relationship between the fans and the club - the social background of the fans, from a hard-working city supporting a hard-working club, this is very important to me.'
Torres' exit from Madrid was met with tears from Atletico fans distraught at his departure, and the new Liverpool number nine admits he is still reeling from an emotional farewell.
'It was a bit of a shock that I was so important to them,' he said.
'It was a hard and difficult moment but the decision had been made.
'Those people I had seen crying were the same ones who then sent me calls and messages of support.
'It was unusual for Spanish football supporters to act like that.'
