updates everyone.....some great suggestions for names have come up - RF.sg, SGRFA, RfUGs (like HUGs), and at the suggestion of one of our friends, I think we dont wish to exclude anyone....

SO EVERYONE IS WELCOME

anyone who has an interest in RF, younger users, any brand of RF gear, RF is RF and does not have class distinctions, the mission is to further RF interest and to share our passion for photography. To have a bit of fun and to shoot great photographs

For thos who prefer a lower profile and not sign up in the forum, please PM me and I will include your name on the list...if you wish to be involved but not have your name publicly listed, please let me know. All information I assure you will be kept confidential.

I am also thinking about regular sections in our web-letter/newsletter, gear reviews, gear shopping guide, b/w processing techniques, events, etc. Naturally we will try to hit up all the related photography business to get discounts or bonuses etc.... cheers guys/gals

I would also be interested in a hands on tutorial, 'class session' for developing B&W, I have never done it and would appreciate getting some help from the masters!

Anyway, let's talk about all this in front of some food!

I got lobang for V700 acquaintance working in challenger can get at close to cost. I got mine for like 800 + I think

Anyone in RFGA got lobang for new/mint leica lens. HK tin cheung is much cheaper.

I just bought mine on Friday from Cathay. I got a discount for a cash transaction.
I think most of the old birds already have a V700 or something.

The next bulk purchase could be the BetterScanning holders...

Good idea Vincent, I'll be up for one MF film holder and probably a ANR glass if we could get a reasonable discount.

Thanks to all this seems to be growing in size and interest. Chairman hacker actually joked about getting a company sec to draft a resolution. I think if this really gains momentum we should explore the idea of a formal association like many interest groups out there. What do you guys think. (Gary.....yeah I'm looking forward to the beer too)

What do RFGA members want? sense of community, group oversea shoots? discounts from leica? (Me!) Platform to display the photographic style ingrain with the RF by HCB , winogrand etc?

Or simply to chat and trade stories as well as gear.

You know what it's probably gonna be all of it. The idea is to keep an open mind and allow expression. All good points and it's this freedom of thoughts opinions and styles that will keep RfUGs viable. Apart from discounts (me too!)

OK guys as you can see, we are growing nicely. Had a bit of a chat with some of the chaps this evening at Chiifs and I'm thinking that we should start planning for the official launch of the group. I would like to suggest, with the blessings of all, that our inaugural event should be something like a photo exhibition at maybe, red dot or post museum. Red dot would be most appropriate I guess...

Theme: Me and my RF.

Not just shots of yourself, but whatever you like taken with your RF. 1 pic per member, large scale mounted and on an easel, with your name, gear etc on it. Maybe throw a simple cocktail party and invite the press including Camera Brands to come in to either sponsor, try to sell us stuff etc etc... Pitch it as a group of high net worth individual special interest group.

It should be highly creative, doesn't need to be straight pics, it can be anything you wish, free to create. It could be for example a collage of all your RF pics, to form one image, or once of your pics that has then in turn been re-interpreted by one the artists in your life (your kids, your mum or whoever) or straight pics if yous so wish. Whatever feels best to you. The idea is not to compete but to compliment each other and to show that photography extends beyond snaps.

It'll probably take sometime to put this all together, so I will try to call for a "la kopi" session soon and to pick an auspicious date to launch this. Maybe this way Chairman hacker can finally fulfill his dream: a book!!
