Life on the streets

Haha not literally...but I would be just like this man. You can find me at bookstore looking like this. Most always a used book store at that. :D

There's wealth on them papers of each book. Speaking of papers, what about exam papers?

On sale here are the ten-year series examination papers of different subjects from various "top schools" spanning the last ten years. Education is a serious business in our land. To elaborate the point, though the exams were just past, a sign says 2015 papers are opened for preorder.

I entitled this photo "Man with three hands".

Girl adorned and on the way to the temple. Preparedness is a beautiful thing. It shows the attitude of the heart. To say I've prepared myself to meet you means I respect and treasure that time with you. Let's be intentionally prepared.

Man on a cigarette break. I don't advocate smoking but it's absolutely important that everyone takes a break. It's proven that a short time off from routine will enable us to better focus and retain information. Makes us happier workers too.

Rare sighting of a food truck in Singapore. The idea of a self equipped mobile stall always intrigue me. It's like my working address can be anywhere I parked for business any given day. Here, the vendors got into position with the orders and food packed and ready. Spicy or non-spicy?

There was a time when a transaction in a wet market didn't go without much hassling about the price. Such is uncommon today with prices fixed across the stalls. But once in a while, an experienced marketing veteran may appear and revisit the ancient art of bargaining.

HAPPY CHILDHOOD
$Happy boy.jpg
There isn't an achievement in my life that makes me more proud than hearing my daughter says that she has a happy childhood. I know this job of parenting isn't near done but looking back, though it was tough, I wouldn't exchange it for the world.

MAKING MEMORIES

My daughter has just completed her secondary school journey but I do missed those years when she was little. This photo reminded me of those valuable moments we had. I have to continue to create such memories with her.

SIMPLY THE BEST

Friends for life. Some of us have that fortune to have a few of them. They say that good friends know all our best stories. Best friends have lived them with us. Keep them close.

FACE VALUE

What starts and ends with the same letter and is a mile long? Smiles. The universal gesture of friendliness. They are the best-looking thing you can put on, no matter what clothes you wear. Be intentional to smile today.

PLENTY MORE WHERE THIS COMES FROM

Doing street photography changes me somewhat. For one, I used to shun crowded places but now I'm attracted to the buzz with camera in hand. The local wet markets seemed to be one of my favourites. My motto: making photos in the commonest of places, with people doing the most ordinary things, and capturing them with their uttermost natural expressions. The best shot will be my next one.

CHATTING CHATUCHAK

Bangkok Chatuchak Market. I've travelled a long way to prove two important facts about this place. It's a street photographer's paradise. It's impossible to cover it within a day. Bummer...

SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE

Cool-looking vendor modelling his sunglasses and persuading us to try out the delicious local food next door. Chatuchak is an amazing place to shop but I was too busy taking photos.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

Amazing lighting at the entrance of the Centara. That's how it's gonna be, taking my cue from the light.

IN THE MIDST
$image-3360851150.jpg
There's a strong mix of the old and the new in Bangkok. Stepping outside a modern mall brought me to a completely different world. I enjoyed my time wondering the streets, mingling with people in road side stalls, in vintage shop houses, on bicycles, on motorcycles, walking and stopping. It was a typical day in the lives of these locals and I was glad to be a small part of it.

LIFE ON THE STREET

An early morning scene on a street in Bangkok. Life is depicted here by a road side vendor and this monk.

LIGHT-HEARTED SIDE OF THE STREET
$image-4079404345.jpg
This stairway leads into the entrance of the Union Mall and this gentleman looks like he was striking a pose. He wasn't, but merely coming down the stairs. There's a certain light-hearted feel to his overall expression. I was glad to capture this moment and this photo puts a smile on my face.
