Life on the streets

Street Photography is a genre but if I’m specific, Environmental Portraiture is what I hope to do very well in. Portraits captured this way always include the natural surrounding of the subject. In this case, the stall defines this vendor. Just look at the assortment of things sold here! What I like about shooting portraits this way is how the environment extends the story of the photo and there’s a natural touch. Though this vendor looked posed here, proudly behind his stash, I assure you this was captured in an unplanned moment.

DESIGN MATTERS

I must say I love design as much as street photography. The former is my livelihood, and I often tell others I can't imagine doing something else other than graphic design. Although it's primarily visual-driven, I'm attracted to the thinking and problem-solving aspects of the trade. I'm convinced design makes the world a better place. Just look at this gentleman. His walking cane opened up to a portable chair and he was resting in style at the Asiatique The Riverfront Mall. When my time comes, I'll gladly pay for such a design and try hard to jive down the street with a cane in hand. My other hand? Camera, of course.

DENIMALISM

The first pairs of Levi's jeans were sold in 1880. If you happened to possess an original pair, you can sell it today for a hefty USD50,000. I don't, unfortunately, though I own quite a few pairs made in the 21st Century. I love jeans. Their comfort and ease of use do that thing for me. If it be socially permissible, I'd be wearing them for any and every occasion. This photo reflects this sentiment of mine, being submerged in the jeans culture.
