i hope so. hope we win comfortably and that it's a good win and not a "gerard houlier win", ie defend for 89 minutes and one decent counter.
long time no see you already. how's life?

yup been a while. Busy. Yourself? still shooting? :D

2-0! great prediction darren!! haven't been shooting much cos trying to wrap up my project and graduate. no more time liao
but still found time to watch soccer :) love the first goal, the link up and understanding was great and that was something so lacking the rpevious season. but they tend to lose the impetus after a good spell. lack of fitness, i think. middle of second half was quite worrying. really need to work on killing off opponents.
still a strong flavour of "gerard houlier style" in the team at times.
man u next....... :cheergal:

wooo hoooo!!!!!! 2-0!!!!!! i can't believe it!!!! :bsmilie:

let's go!!!
and now, Man Utd to the slaughter table!!!

Good prediction!!! I am glad I was wrong in my prediction

GO GO LFC!!!

I think LFC needs to get a few more of these wins succesively to build up their confidence. Technically they are almost there liao... they just need more confidence. Shaky moments still appears in all games.

BURN MAN U, BURN.... :hung: :flame:

Yeah!!!! Go Reds Go!!!!

Now hopefully we get the raid on Valencia as planned when the transfer window opens. I really do hope that Rafa will get Aimar (Pablo) and Mista. As for Ayala, well I think he's a bit too old liaoz. What do you guys think? I think that another central defender purchase should be the priority.

Good performance from LFC this morning...

But i got a niggling feeling we still need an out-and-out striker.. Luis Garcia is very good a playing behind striker, and both Baros and Cisse are very good forwards, except their finishing are just not lethal enough yet.. All three have an one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper, and all failed to convert it. The keeper did well, but i have a feeling against natural goalscorers like Ronaldo, RVN or Larrson the keeper will have no chance at all.. We should have crashed them 5-0 !!!!!

Another Fowler or Rush type of goal proacher would be excellent addition to the strikeforce, dun u think so ?

Btw, i wonder what Owen was thinking and feeling last nite.. Real lost 3-0 away.. he could have been starting and scoring CL goals for LFC instead of warming the bench of Real.. hahahha. He was the fourth striker, bcos Raul & Ronaldo started, then Morientes came in after Zidane injured. Dem pathetic, man.. at least in LFC at worst he's the 3rd striker.. hahahahah!

btw...Gary Neveille is injured...Kewell would have loaded of attack from left ...and Silverster is very proned to mistake...Hope either Alonso or Finnan can deal with him..Although Rio will be back..but he has not been playing professional game for so long..dun think he can manage to close down the G-Force (Garcia and Gerrard)...

Would for sure to stay up for the match on next Monday night ...

i think it's kinda good owen left. we have too many similar types of forwards. fast, likes the ball played forward to their feet. if we're signing a forward, i'd think james beattie would be good. strong in the air and can play with his back to goal and hold the ball up. unlike heskey, he seems to know how to score too. would also like to see more of mellor.

another centreback is still the most important piece of the puzzle as there doesn't seem to be enough depth in the squad yet. the defence did well today but smith and ruud van ninny would be a different prospect. but certainly better than the start of the season. Dudek!!!?? seem to lack confidence in going for the ball and held back when he should have committed on at least 2 occassions.

wonder how good nunez is cos though finnan works hard, he doesn't really contribute much in the way of precise crosses and penetrative runs. joaquin anybody? :)
on the plus side, gerrard, gracia and alonso forms a deadly triangle  cisse looked sharp at times and hyypia and carra solid as always. riise and josemi were fantastic too.

im silently hoping we find a christian ronaldo type of winger... ;p but dunno who though..

If u had been following the previous thread " Heskey, Houllier and Liverpool"..u know that although I dun highly rate Heskey but I believe he had done well for LFC during his service with the club.

For sure he knows how to score....Did not he bang in lots of goals in his first 2 seasons with Liverpool ? Pls watch last week EPL highlight, he muscled down 2 Middlesbrough defender and scored.

He was being used as left midfielder and supportive role for Owen...and most of the time...he played as a target man..to head down the ball...to hold the ball..as instruction given by Houllier.. The role he carried had limited his scoring chances.

He was treated most of the time as scapegoat and being blamed for not scoring goals...I personally feel that it is unfair...had u analysed deeply the game Liverpool played during last 2 seasons and heskey role...u would understand why his goal rate is so little.

Well...with Gary nevellie being injured..O'Shea...Heinz...Silverster all are left footed player...Rio will have to play center defender...who will play for right back for MU in this coming match ?? hahahaa...let kewell tear off their defend piece by piece....

wonder how good nunez is
I had never watched him play for Real..he was not even there to warm up the bench ....Really wonder his ability ?

Btw...I have place my bet on Liverpool on the Monday match. If we still have "Muprhy" with us..I would have doubled the amount...the "Murphy's Law in Old Trafford"..hahaa....

Come to think of it... we should have kept Murphy and just play him for two games!!! That, I think, is worth it.

i understand. he was a good servant to the club and he did what he had to. His strength and surprising pace is unmatched when he's on a song. but i just feel that he became too one dimensional. understandably he was supposed to support owen but he seemed hesitant to move up when he could and lack coinfidence to shoot. and it wasn't just when he was playing support but when he was actually up and had a chance to shoot. i was actually a big heskey fan when he was at leicester and even once had a $20 bet that he'd score at a particular match against arsenal (i lost :) ). but i felt that he had gone flat when he moved to liverpool. lost his edge a little especially in the later seasons and became predictable. i guess you're right and it's could be GH's fault rather than heskey's. Anyway, though i wish he scored more, i had never blamed him for liverpool's failings but rather the midfield, which i felt had lacked creativity and movement, not to mention flair. I did wonder how benitez would have used heskey if he was around. he did have john carew (another big strong guy) at valencia for a while did he not?
btw, anyone noticed that michael owen seemed very hesistant to shoot in euro2004? he had a few half chances and the old michael would have taken a shot. seemed to me his confidence had dropped and i guess i wasn't as sorry as i could be when he left. still missed him though. anyway, let's not gloat about Real's failure at owen's cost. he did his service for the club and he would always be appreciated. it's his choice to try his luck at new pastures and how can we blame him?
some trickery in the right wing would be much appreciated

owen n heskey is yesterday's news!!

now we have Cisse! we have Garcia! and we have Alonso! not forgetting Josemi! yeah!

oh yes! we still have TRAORE on the bench too! haha!

long live LIVERPOOL!!!!
now, let's ham tum Man Utd!!

I think Liverpool's main problem is a lack of natural striker like Rush and Fowler. Even in this season, i saw a Fowler goal for Man City that only he can score. (a lop-volley just outside the penalty box)

If not for his frequent injuries and Gerard Houllier, Fowler will probably still be GOD to all the liverpudians!

Any frustrating thing is Liverpool seems to have loads of Injuries problem. Players like Veggem, Owen, Gerard, Rednapp, Berger and Fowler has tons of injury problem.

Imagine if Rednapp maintains his form shown in his early years, we will not need player like alonso. If fowler maintain his, we have someone more potent than Henry and Ruud. If Macca don't defects, we have someone that can shake and bake as well as Ronaldo (Cristian that is).

Prospects is looking good through but i feel liverpool definitely need another 2 central defenders (1 old and 1 young), possibly a right midfielder as Smicer is injuried (add him and La Tallec, krikland to the IL) and too inconsistent and a tall, strong natural striker...

I suspect Benitez may raid Ayala from Valencia.... As for other positions, maybe damian duff as he seems to be surplus at Chelsea. For striker, probably John Carew (still at Valencia?), Mista (Valencia), although i really hope is Carlo Tevez (Boca) but he is too similar to Baros.

One last thing, i think Owen owes everyone an apology as he definitely play Liverpool out. Imagine someone like him going for 8m pounds. Houllier is either totally clueless or gutless (to bench and sell owen)!

maybe we can loan traore to man u for the night :D

Considering their injury problems, Man U may just accept :bsmilie:

There are always changes. So no pt looking at the past. If there are so many "IFs", and all can guess what and when these "IFs" comes, all will be a GOD already. So lets look forward whats there install for the new liverpool. I find there can all kinds of players for a team, yes they must be gd, but I find that the players must gel and play like a team in order to be a very gd team.

Just look at Arsenal, ever wonder who is petit?Viera?pires?Tore blah blah when they first arrives a Arsenal? It was Wenger who polish the stones into gem and look at how they were train to gel and play like a team. It was Wenger's theory of team work that make this unknown players into gems
