Not really lah....Everton also lost mah....still 7 pts gap....still possible.....

sigh, the whole point is that if we make it to the fourth spot, i want it to be because we played well, not because everton or boro screwed up. goodness, we're aspiring to be a top class team and dreaming of the title one of these days. yet every season we cannot even assure ourselves of a fourth place finish without needing the other contenders to screw up?

anyway, our next match is against watford in carling cup and then charlton away in the league. i have bad feelings about them. we have only a slim lead to watford and we're playing away to a team with nothing to lose and everything to gain. then there's charlton. they tend to do well against us and are always tricky playing at home. hope for the best, expecting the worst.

lazing goodz..best thing to do ever :)

but think you need to try and stop worrying about the team. if there's any way our collective will can lift the team, will be glad to try. but otherwise, we're just making ourselves miserable. just get pissed for a while, then forget it if you can.
hope you don't mind i kaypoh, but you seem quite down from your posts today...i went to my friend's mum's wake today. she was still very young. kinda made me realise that life is short and unpredictable. we cannot even be sure we have tomorrow. all we have is now. so go and do something you like and enjoy your life. things, like relationships or league titles, will come when the time comes but we shouldn't kill ourselves waiting for it.

Saw the liverpool's performance at the club house , what a disappointing performance espesically the first half. Definately one of the worst performance from Liverpool there. :(

Garcia is trying to be too fancy in his passing. We want effectiveness not fanciful play.
As usual, he always play this way...

yeah... i think garcia must be dropped.. cannot pass properly, one touch don't work, can't dribble pass defenders.. he's a liability.. ;(

PURPORTED CONTENDER

Four losses in the last six matches do not augur well for a team purported to be a contender for the fourth Champions League spot.

If the Reds cannot beat Southampton, or at least avoid a defeat against a team who are still stuck third from bottom in the league table, then what chance of them securing the points against the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham?

Southampton, who were missing eight players on their side, too, played a fluent game of football which did not suggest that they are fighting for Premier League survival.

The staunchest of Liverpool supporters may not think Champions League qualification is out of the club's reach, arguing that history showed that Liverpool are a team of elite European pedigree.

But my records also showed that Southampton were winless in 10 games going into the match. And that Liverpol lost a third successive match for the first time in six years.

On top of that, they have only won three out of 12 away games this season.

Still think Liverpool can still claw back and clinch that coveted fourth spot? Get real.

;( ;( ;(

Sad but true. That was a realistic assessment of the team although a bit harsh. I still think Liverpool needs to revamp its entire defence and get some world class wingers. To do that, it takes lots of $$$ and to get lots of $$$, its CL and many seasons to achieve it. Unless.....Roman..... :bsmilie: .

I still think the 4th spot is up for grabs. Its Everton to lose it and it just might happen. But it could be boro thou. :) If a club is aiming for 4th placing, then its no longer a top team. Just have to accept it.

well, i think most of us knew it anyway. nothing really new. i still think we have decent players in most positions but just not playing as a team well. well, let's just hang on and hope...as we did every season anyway.

nothing much to accept. we already knew it from the beginning. but hope is eternal. and everytime liverpool plays, us liverpool fans will be supporting them (and probably swearing like hell after the match :bsmilie: ). been like that since i started supporting them. never saw them win anything but league and fa cups and that odd uefa cup :complain:
ha ha, i just hope i can see them do well in my lifetime, then i will die happy :)

btw, your devils almost got lucky. arsenal was that close to dropping points. still very much to play for though.

Oh the UEFA cup win was nice. English clubs do not win many euro trophies these days. Seem to stumble at the last few hurdle. Maybe no luck?

I'm sure Liverpool will be back with the leaders challenging for titles. But it takes time. I predict 3 seasons time, they will be there. :) This is benitaz 1st season, so he need sometime to build his squad.

Devils lucky? No la. Newcastle's defense leak like a running water tap. Sure win at home. I'm surprise they won by a goal only. Maybe Souness had began to plug the leak. :bsmilie: Oh Ah Beng Bellemy in trouble again!

Its that Chelsea, very impressive! Like a machine. League Cup, FA Cup, CL and league title. 4 hit combo!! They are also damn lucky at times.

english teams always fade at the end of european season cos the premier league damn siong. towards the end, you may be involved in the league, FA cup, carling cup and some more playing in europe. and epl teams often play on weekend and midweek. you have very tired players and probably a whole load of injuries too. that's my theory why english team always stumble at the end.

anyway, i loved that eufa cup win. 5-4. that was unbelievable. crap defending but so exciting :)

anyway, the way the gunners were playing, i almost expected them to drop points. newcastle defence is crap lah but they recently bolstered it with new signings. boumsong is pretty good. and there's certainly nothing wrong with their attack, even without "beng"llamy :)

one comment. i heard spurs made a 1.5mil bid for routledge. i wonder if LFC have the cash for a bid. he's exactly what we need, a right winger and cheap too. young lor but he'd be a lot better than garcia even without any experience. c'mon rafa, give the kid a chance, if we can scrape up the cash that is.

Thats true. Thats why a large squad has the advantage. I think Newcastle is pretty good. They only need to buy a defender or 2 more. Shearer is retireing at the end of season. They need another top striker. There are 2 defenders that i cannot tahan in EPL, they are Traore and Bramble. :)

1.5M? Actually they have it. Its only weather they want to fork out the money or not. They will be at least 2M richer by going thru the group stages of CL. After playing Lever, they will be a further 2M richer, regardless of a win or lost. Since they're in debt, they will have to spend wisely, hence a gamble on a youngster might not justify. But its up to benitaz's decision, his influence on his board and the board's decision. Besides, the deal might not be 1.5M up front cash. It could be 1M cash and 0.5M in apperence and performance fees etc etc.
