last i heard was that it could be concluded today... and not too sure if he could be registered in time for manure.

ok! thanks!!!

watch this space!!!

GO LIVERPOOL!!!

Can't wait to see him wearing Liverpool's shirt. Bring on Man Utd ! Hopefully we finish our chances with Morienties grabbing a goal at least on his debut ! :)

Hopefully we sign Aimar in the summer our attacking force will be much stronger.

Morientes will be the best signing we have made after Litmanen.
Owen will not be missed cause we now have Morientes!!

next in the wishlist would be aimar... i would be a happy man should morientes and aimar both came to anfield. :D

great! :) hmm... maybe can select him in my fantasy team too....

Strange to see people regard Litmanen as our best signing.... No doubt, he's a great player, prob the best Finn that plays the game. Great Ajax player as well.

However, in his 1 season in liverpool, he was not really given the role and opp to shine by Houllier. He's so disappointed that he rejoin Ajax and subsequently retired. Hence, i do not rate him as our best signing. Biggest name signing maybe since players like Alonso, Kewell etc are not in the GREAT category when they join us.

As for Morientes, i am still not very convinced that he's up to EPL's tough defences. Of course, i hope he is and hope he scores 30 goals this season. However, i will be pretty happy if he gets about 10-15 goals from now to end of season. Be realistic.

Also, effectively, we traded Owen to Real for 1.7m quid plus Morientes and Nunez. If Nunez proved to be a decent player and Morientes scoring like he was in Monaco, i think Real Madrid prob got the SHORT Straw not to mention the SHORT guy (owen). :bsmilie:

best signing? recent signings?

in the 1990s, it has to be Sami Hyppia? i really rate him as a good centreback.

i think Hamann is another excellent signing. i think babbel is too, till he got sick and said the wrong things about Houllier. litmanen is another outstanding player, maybe he's a different class for Liverpool under Houllier but if it was under Rafa then, things would have been different.

there are a couple more, like Baros... Riise... and more recently, alonso...

but the biggest wrench has to be seeing Fowler leaving Liverpool... :(

Morientes is suited for the EPL!! definitely!

his style is that of Alan Shearer's. strong in the air, good at holding ball up and possesses a very strong shot.

great game against Man Utd this weekend!!
can't wait for the results tonight. if Man Utd lose to Chelski.. then there's a high chance they'll crack up against us.

hohoho!

i am sure Man U will lose to chelsea. The best they can managed will be a draw. I think chelsea will win 1-0....

wohoo!!! we got our guy... finally... :D

:D :D :D

morientes!! :cheergal:
finally we can conclude this long drawn out saga. morientes is gonna be a good signing. he's strong, skillful and a good finisher with loads of experience. i think he should have no problem settling into the premiership. just hope the team can learn to play together.
well, now that all the speculation is over, back to work guys! let's kick some devil butt........

i think man utd and alex fergie lost their plot. their top players are aging and they've yet to find suitable replacements less for that arrogant and yah-yah-papaya pirated ronaldo.

anyway, that's their problem!!

Chelski can only get stronger with every passing season as they gel as a unit. and not forgetting the deep pockets of abramovich... wat a deadly combo. and that cocky jose... sad sad sad!

Dun be so pessimistic... Chelsea is rich but have no strong youngsters coming up as players like Huth and Carlton Cole dun get the chance to play...

Liverpool has a strong academy with stream of players coming out. Who knows the next Fowler or Gerrard may be just round the corners. :)

i wouldn't write them off just yet. they are still a very strong team and are regaining their touch now and had been on a winning streak. chelski still has more class than them so the blues has a slight edge.... but we will need to be at our best on saturday if we want to get something out of the match.
c'mon lads. let's thrash those devils!

think we' will really need to contain their wingers. if we can cut them off out wide, the game is ours. there's where they are strongest and where they often pull defences apart. through the middle, our midfield of hamann and gerrard should come out tops (wish alonso was here too :dunno: ). if our wide players can do their part in both defence and helping out with the attack, we should be able to give them plenty to worry about. and i kinda feel that we ought to field 2 forwards, cos one may be easily marked out. maybe baros and mellor (or morientes if he's fit and we can get the paperwork done). their different styles would come in handy with baros running at them and mellor or morientes pressuring the defence with their more physical approach. let's hope our finishing will beup to mark this time.

i'm thinking that Man Utd is now having their last glory. the stars that shines the brightest are the ones that have been around for a long time.

seasoned performers like Gigg, Scholes etc..

Man Utd actually lost their plot when they let Golden Balls left for Real Kuniangs. slowly, their empire is slipping away... haha! and we are here to witness just like the time they laughed at the fall of Mighty Liverpool...

but then again, that;s the problem of man utd. wahahaha

Liverpool really has some exciting players coming through! i'll be contended to have another Fowler!! no, not Owen!!! Gerrard is those type of players that comes once every 5 years or so... special.

LIVERPOOL!!!! LIVERPOOL!

Gerrard..once every 5 years?? We dun have anyone like him before actually! Jan Molby may pass the ball better, Souness may tackle bettr but are they better than Gerrard? I think not. Only 2 person i can honestly think they are comparable to Gerrard. Viera (when he partners Petite) and Roy Keane (in 1999 when they won CL).

we have players like him. better than him? that is debatable.

i believe king kenny is the best Liverpool player i've seen.

kevin keegan... Jan Molby can really pass the ball! Peter Beardsley...

John Barnes...

Gerrard is a different kind of player. special. in his own class. all the more special because he is from the academy!

some can pass as well as him, maybe better. others may be more skillful. but what makes gerrard so valuable to a team is that he inspires the others. he lends a kind of frenetic energy to the team. and all this ability in one package.... in my opinion, not molby, not barnes, not even king kenny can match it. what we have in gerrard is a technically superb player who is also a natural leader and is able to drive his teammates on to perform at a higher level. i hope he stays because replacing him would be a nightmare.
