it's been such a chore and bother dragging and involving nearly everybody...
i'm tired....
4 central midfielders is probably insufficient... however, i do believe Rafa will buy another CM... Aimar is a possibility. Essien in exchange of Baros is also a possibility.wong_se said:CM are reserved for Alonso and Gerrard. We all know and agree.
So, we only have Hamann and Welsh. U think having 4 CM is sufficient coverage ?
Playing away game vs Juventus..our formation is 4-5-1. We already used 3 CM.
Do not want him vs Want him but can't renew working permit is very different.
Unless Rafa is working on Aimar and it is kept from the media....![]()
Did Heskey score 15 goals/season when he's with liverpool? I don't think so. he prob score 15 or more in his 1st season as well as the season when we won the cups... other seasons, i think he scored about 10 or so only.wong_se said:when we hvae heskey...who score 15 goal a season, he always being booed by the fans as he is not scoring goals.
but when we have Crouch..it is ok that he can gove very different option in attack, but who can;t score 15 goals a a season.
Why so biased ? i am sure in term of utlisation..heskey is a much better player than Crouch. WHy not buy back Heskey at 7m rather than wasted on Crouch (who had not proven at all) ?
We dun really need a "recoba" or a "riquelme" as essentially, we already have players like garcia, kewell, alonso and gerrard that can do the link up play or play the crucial passes. Of course, it will be good to have but not essential for our success next season.giddygoat said:sigh, as usual, all the exciting post-season transfer gossip but always seem to come to nothing. vincente apparently not keen on a move according to media watch at liverpoolfc.tv. the only seemingly concrete move seems to be reina (i hope he comes in to challenge dudek but i am not sure we should let the dude go first) and crouch. nice to have an english striker in the side but for 7mil i wonder if he's good enough. he's big, i give that, but he's not particularly clinical and his all-round play is no better than mellor. not quite the pedigree forward we need to hold our line. don't look like a first team player. agree with wong se here in that heskey is better. i still feel that heskey has lost his confidence and goal scoring touch under houllier but rafa may have been able to revive him. wasted!
rather than size (after all, we have nando), i'd rather we get a wily forward like recoba who can link with the midfield and create chances. i feel that our front line had always been painfully predictable and lack quality in their movements off the ball. we need that unpredictability in the attack to unlock premiership defences.
maybe we should invest in a goalscoring midfielder like julio baptista or aimar instead. i'm a big aimar fan but sadly i think baptista would be my choice though cos he's more physical than aimar.

The thing abt Crouch is his potential. Heskey is there already, he won;t get any better, at least thats what i feel and most people will agree. Crouch as mentioned is still pretty raw.
However, he has proved 2 things. He's good in the air, given that he's 6'6, he's should be good anyway. You can argue that Heskey is strong in the air but how often you see him winning headers in Penalty box? He's good in the air when he's linking up and knocking down balls outside the box where there's more space and time.
Anything i realised that for Crouch, even though he's tall, he's actually quite skillful. I have saw him scored goals that i would not have expected him to. He moves well and dribble well for a big guy. He also does not get disheartened easily like Heskey.
Heskey is a bit soft for my liking. With his size and built, he shd be charging into penalty box and creating havoc like Rooney or terrorise defence when attacking corners like Duncan Ferguson.
Thats why i feel Heskey is a failure. I doubt he will be an england regular also and will prob miss the World Cup....
Statistics is skewed by other factors such as no. of apperances...wong_se said:Heskey scored 60 goals for 4 season with us.
Much higher goal scored compared to Smith..or most of the 2nd striker of MU, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle.
He won league cup, super cup, fa cup, charity shield, and Uefa cup with Liverpool where he played major role.
I wonder why u woud feel he is a failure.
Potential is potential. I have the potential to be the great artist, the sportsman, the PM, the whatever..but never realise it. U dun buy potential like Crouch at 7m....
heskey is strong in the air...his role (instructed by houllier) is to be the main target man..to take up 2 defenders to free space for others.
I dun see him winning headers in Penalty box often.. but there are more than 1000 times...he win headers for Owen and for his team mate..
And I do see him running back to help defending Crouch certainly had not showned this capability and physcial level to run up and down.
even though he's tall, he's also actually quite skillful. I have saw him scored goals that i would not have expected him to. He moves well and dribble well for a big guy. ie...goal against Munich in the Super cup, 5-1 thrash germany, and most recently (2004/2005) he dribbled past and march on 3 defenders to score againt Chalrton, he scored from long range against Everton, he run pass arsenal defender and scored against Arsenal.
that ;s why we called "biased" on judgement in heskey.
again - stats count, stats to analyse a player without much emotion judgement. Pls name me a 2nd striker for the club like MU, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle during the same period 2000-2004...that he can score 60 goals in total.
I am doubt that u can have more than 1.
So, heskey did scored goals rite ?
And I am sure we dun need to look at "assit on goal". Heskey has the highest number on assist goal for Liverpool during 2000-2004.
So..a striker can go..can assit on goal, had won medals - it is a failure...???
If I would lament failure..on a certain player- I would say it must be Rio Ferdinard. at 30m price tag..the best CD in the europe...it is surprised to know that 2004/2005 FA cup is his 1st major tournamnent/final to get near on trophy. he had won no mdeal and he had helped no club to win anything..
All transfers are a gamble, a calculated risk.Cheesecake said:not forgetting that Heskey played a large part of his Anfield career as an 'exciting' left winger!!! :bsmilie:
LIVERPOOL!!!!!!!
but to sign Crouch at £7million, a highly unproven player at the highest level, is a huge risk.
let's splash the moola elsewhere! :bsmilie:
