We bid 5m..they want 7m for Crouch. So.....no deal loh..
Actually I personally dun think Crouch is the right man for us. 7m for Courch ?? that is ridiculous. I would only rate him at 3m.
We should not have sold heskey ..and not the price for 6m !! Where can u find a striker..at 6m..who dun complain..who seldom get yellow, who scored average 15 goal a season..who can hold the ball , with lots of european experience and physically strong in the air..??
Even Smith (who had not scored more than 15 goal season) would cost 10m lah.
Rafa want a strong man to hold the ball up at the away game...and thus he fancy Crouch. he is tall but not strong...I dun see he can really hold the ball and stand the tackle in European Game.. Compared to heskey..(his ability of holding ball is well known ) and heskey has more European game experience under him..
and I dun see Crouch is a good striker..he is not fast..not strong..and not showing any class..can't shoot from long range, and most important..he does not have a real striker sens...nor he shows he can link up quite well with this teamate like what Janker did to Czech national team (the tall Czech player)
for me..he is just a very ordinary striker..
Even if we manage to buy him at the end..I would say it is just another flop.
Of course, I hope at the end of season I would eat humble pie with my above statement on Crouch if he really become a LFC player.

2) From business point of view...we should not release him at all. Where can u get a 28 year old defensive midfielder at his qualify for free ? Why not sign him for 1 3 year contract...if he is not really in Rafa plan..then sell it at the end of 2005/2006 season..at least we would manage to get 1-2m back.

"It was after that tournament that all these clubs showed their interest in me," Traore explained. "I was faced with all sorts of offers and it was difficult to decide as my head kept on being turned by different teams.
"I was young and to have almost every club in France offering me to join them was exciting.
"My first choice was Paris Saint-Germain because I grew up near there and supported them as a kid. "Teams in Italy were also interested in me, like Lazio, Parma, and even AC Milan. But in the end Gerard Houllier convinced me that joining Liverpool was the right thing.
"And I have to say I don't have any regrets." "At first it was hard to settle in," he admitted. "I was only just 19, in a new country, and didn't speak the language." Rigobert Song and Jean-Marc Ferri, the only French speakers at the club, helped him.
Traore was made captain of the Reserve team but was always involved with the first team. "What kept me going in those days was that I trained with people like Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, and Robbie Fowler. And of course Steven Gerrard, who is more or less the same age as me but made rather quicker progress."
Traore spent the 2001-02 season on loan at Lens, who finished runners-up in the French league that year. He was a regular for Liverpool the following season but couldn't stop occasional losses of concentration that led to goals against his side.
"He had this tendency to commit a big mistake," said Jacques Crevoisier, Liverpool's assistant coach under Houllier. "He would play 15 games without being noticed and then suddenly make a gaffe and everyone would remember that." It has only happened once this season â when Traore's spectacular back-heeled own goal knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup third round against Burnley in January. 'That own goal really hurt, mainly because it knocked us out of the competition and I felt bad for the young guys in the team who don't get so many chances to play," he said.
"But the manager helped me overcome it, he had a word with me afterwards, told me to forget about it, and I was soon back in the team. I showed my strength of character to quickly put it behind me." That character was evident in Liverpool's European campaign. Except for the final, the Reds' defence was not breached in the previous three games - away to Juventus and twice against Chelsea.
"That defensive record is down to the whole team but knowing that we can keep clean sheets against that level of opposition is the kind of thing that makes us believe we can win it. It's a team thing, everybody defends," he said. Benitez has given the players confidence to believe in his way of playing.
And Traore is one of many benefitting from it.
Prob with Biscan is his main position is DM and we already have Hamann... Also, I suspect Rafa may give Welsh some opportunity as well.wong_se said:

Playing away game vs Juventus..our formation is 4-5-1. We already used 3 CM.
Do not want him vs Want him but can't renew working permit is very different.

I am surprised that Benitez is not looking at Joaquin from Betis. That guy is a better player than Luque though they play on different sides of the wing. One of those players who are happy to take on opponents. Luque a bit to erratic if you ask me.
Crouch is well, a little raw. I suppose he can give the manager a very different option in attack every now and then because he's a tall striker. Useful guy to have around for cleaning high cupboards too.

Why so biased ? i am sure in term of utlisation..heskey is a much better player than Crouch. WHy not buy back Heskey at 7m rather than wasted on Crouch (who had not proven at all) ?

A Liverpool die hard fans had died.
Liverpool Football Club are saddened to learn of the death of a fantatical supporter from Ireland who tragically passed away in the aftermath of the Reds' Champions League victory in Istanbul.
20 year old Patrick Robinson from Carlow is thought to have suffered a massive heart attack in the seconds following Jerzy Dudek's decisive penalty save from Andriy Shevchenko in the Ataturk Stadium.
Patrick was watching the game in a local pub and jumped for joy when his beloved Reds completed their tremendous comeback to win the dramatic penalty shoot-out.
But, tragically, he died soon after, just weeks before his 21st birthday.
His uncle, Michael Owens, wrote to Liverpoolfc.tv and said: "Patrick lived for Liverpool FC. He didn't get to see his favourite player Steven Gerrard lift the European Cup because he was sadly no longer of this world, but he saw the penalty shoot out and I know he died a happy and proud young man.
"Myself and my family would like to thank Steven Gerrard and everyone connected with LFC in the past and present for giving Patrick so many great memories."
Patrick's mother Denise said: "He was a beautiful child. He was really happy and he was so popular. He was very lively and he loved sport.
"He was fanatical about Liverpool and he has been since he was four years of age. He never missed a kit and every year he bought the home and away kits."
Everybody at Liverpool Football Club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to all the family and friends of Patrick at this extremely difficult time.
