Still need to keep focus and control the game for a whole 90min. A bit lax in the first half and not as sharp as could be in defence yet. Had a couple of let-offs but we deserved the win and the strikers took their chances well. Look out for bellamy. He really wants to score and i think once he does, he'll keep going...Also, Agger is gonna be a star for us! I just know it!
Hope to see us start consistently taking all 3 points in away fixtures while rolling over the opposition at home. Then this season would really begin for us.
Paijan is entitled to his opinions but they are strictly that. I don't think his opinions are any better than any man in the street. Very good win but i must admit Spurs played quite well, esp Murphy, the ex-red. If Jenas didnt miss, i doubt the score will be 3-0.
The quality of the goals are top notch though. Kuyt's goal is similar to the one Garcia miss in the previous match. As for Riise, every goal of his is a beauty and this is no exception.

heart still pounding. why must we make it so difficult always? cannot just stroll through a match and spare the fans the heart attack? Quite a few positives from the game but many negatives too.
problem is...defence. Aurelio is a great crosser, better than pennant. play him on the left wing by all means, he seems even more effective than gonzalez. but he cannot defend. awful awareness. they always pull him out and then sabri would cut down the wing and cross. he's always beaten to headers and slow to close down players.
Agger is a great prospect and I still think he'll be a star. but he is weak aerially. when paired with carra, we have problems when dealing with crosses. almost every cross met a galatasaray player.
Possession.....I didn't see the figures but i think gala actually had more? we had not been able to hold possession. been ranting about this since day one but the simple fact is, if you have the ball, you have control of the game. we cannot string more than 5 passes together. and when under pressure, you need to hold the ball, deny it to your opponents and wear them down. instead, we just gave the ball away and invited them to come at us again and again. we allowed gala to play their game. they passed the ball around, involved their players and gave time for more players to move up the pitch, making it difficult for us to defend. we slackened after the second goal, didn't press hard enough, gave the ball away, were lucky not to conceed till we scored the 3rd. gala couldn't get a 3rd but we have been warned. wake up lads!
Tactical awareness.... we lack it. we don't know how to vary the game enough. rafa had to bring on substitutes to change the game. players need to be aware of what's happening on the pitch and control the tempo. slow things down, speed up. we just basically play one game throughout. and the players often lack understanding, dunno where each other is, though i think we've improved a bit in this aspect.
Reina.....still doesn't inspire confidence at times. flapped at a few balls and not as commanding in the box as one would wish.
We had a few lucky breaks, especially with spurs when jenas and king missed their chances. but this is a clear warning that we cannot expect charity from the other teams, not even at home and certainly not away. Keep it tight and players need to be aware.
Sorry for the rant......just pissed that the same thing keeps happening again and again. and we almost paid for it today. hope it's a good warning.

galatasaray never settled.
din't play that well afterwhich. i felt Liveprool were being too easily run-over by the turks.
at the start of 2nd half, galatasaray threw in Sas and the goalscorer, Umit Karan. they took a very attacking formation, pouring forward and leavin only the centerback and the anchorman as they went in search for the equalisers.
true enough they were exposed and Crouch scores a superb 3rd goal for Liverpool and his second of the night with a scissors-kick.
Dirk Kuyt hits the post shortly after and Stevie G's follow-up was saved by Mondragon at point blank range.
Karan pulled one back with a looping header, totally unmarked in the center. its a BIG disappointment to concede in this way as Galatasaray keep their crossing game and maintained their incredible high tempo and pressing game.
6mins later, another horrific defensive lapse see Karan powerfully head home from close range after being left unmarked.
Carragher and Agger were pulled apart so often as the full backs overlapped, most notably Aurelio. he simply can't defend but he sure can attack.
a tense 20+mins followed till then end of the game and i wonder why i put myself through such heart-stopping games time and again.
3goals up and a thrashing is on hand. the boys took it easy and paid for their mistake. unbelievable that they din't maintain their pressing and high tempo game after storming ahead in the first 15mins.
Stevie G roams forward too often and left the center of the park bare(Alonso is left exposed) and the turks took control so often.
Sissoko was brought on after the turks made it 3-2 and the midfield starts to look more balanced with Stevie G jus behind Crouch along with Gonzales on the left and Garcia on the right.
alot of mistake and weakness were exposed in this game. it is upsetting although the results favour us....

miss hamann. when he's brought on, he doesn't just win balls but he slows the tempo down. sissoko is good but he plays at a high pace and his ball control and passing not good so he gives the ball away almost as often as he wins them. hamann would hang on to the ball until he feels like letting go, no matter how nicely you ask him. becos of that, the other players relax and the tempo becomes more deliberate. we lose the ball less often. of course, it's not good when you're attacking but it's perfect when you want to hold the ball and keep things tight.
cheesecake is right. the wingbacks left the centre too exposed. hyppia perhaps would be better able to control umit karan as he's better in the air. neither carra nor agger are particularly dominant in the air. feel that the pairing of carra and agger would better suit teams that like to play through the middle, where hyypia's lack of pace would be exposed.

erm.. me thinks both teams played a boring game. just that bolton scored when the chance were handed to them on those to occassions.
as for the linesman...... it was disgusting!! i hope pool lodge a formal complain of the bad decision.
