Aiyah...seems like the match on Tuesday is not showing...... will be a important match..

Tonight's the night. Would be a horrible blow if we fail to make it to the group stage. Not yet totally convinced about the team yet. Have shown glimpses of quality but still lack understanding and the movement off the ball not good enough. Feel like we added depth to the team but didn't really improve in quality of play. We struggled against determined sides last season and again against sheffield. If Macabbi doesn't score early and had to come out and play, we probably would clinch it if we play positively enough. Hope we don't sit back too much cos a late goal would kill us on the away rule. I do worry if we go behind, can we find the inspiration to unluck a packed defence? Nothing I've seen convinced me yet. But it's early days and in Rafa we trust.

Go Reds! YNWA. :cheergal:

It's probably going to be another heart stopping match.

Weak hearts need not apply :p

lol what to do as liverpool fans. We must be strong hearted to see the matches:)

mux zai. y is everyone taking the draw at bramall lane as though its the end of the world?

i expected a draw against sheff utd. wonder why the papers call them weak, even suggesting that they are push-over and make such a hype that we would thrash them 9-0?

they like to build us up then once we failed to live up to the expectations, throw the pile of rubbish on us all. if u think that Liverpool can beat sheff utd at bramall lane, then u surely haven't been following Liverpool's progress lately.

we've yet to beat the Blades in dunno how many games at bramall lane since 1990+ as the report suggested. furthermore, newly promoted club will really psyche themselves up esp. its their first match of the season at its a home game!

among the top 4, Arsenal, manutd and chelski got the easiest ties. Liverpoo, the hardest. the first 3 plays at home against moderate opponents. expected them all to win convincingly. only arsenal fell. Liverpool, was hyped up to beat the Blades becos we beat Chelski convincingly at the charity shield.

but if u've seen how the blades played last season or the last few times we played against them, u will know it is difficult to play them. i bet they will surprise quite a few teams this season.

a draw at bramall lane is a good result. it is good to peg the boys back to earth to make them realise that things aren't so easy in the EPL even though they've beaten the top boys.

let's wait for the likes of manutd, arsenal and chelski to play against neil warnock's team.

and don't fall for the media's rubbish report and over-hyped reports.

we'll beat maccabi haifa convincingly tonight.
no worries.

1-1 at kiev. sounds llike another heart attack match. and now sissoko and warnock injured. quite suay with injuries this week :(

It's not the results against Shefield that worries me. It was how we had been playing. Managed to catch the kaiserlaustern friendly, charity shield and the league game. I just found that our play was not inventive enough, the off the ball movement predictable and couldn't hold the ball and use it well. Too many hopeful balls. Yes, we will still score plenty i think, but we're always gonna struggle to score. The goals that we scored are often because our player jumped a bit higher, or ran a bit faster to a predictable ball, not because we showed any creativity to get through their defence. we are often great in most of the pitch then deliver horribly predictable 50-50 balls in the final third.

More importantly, we struggled to hold on to the initiative last season, and i don't see it looking much better yet. We often get pegged back after scoring, allowing the opponents to bombard us (like today's haifa match apparently). we lacked the coolness and maturity to hold on to the ball and play our way out of trouble. too many wild clearances out of defence and hopeful long passes which gives the ball right back to the opposition and put pressure right back on us. That' why i'll miss hamann. he settles the team down when he comes on.

And I find our set-piece defending still lacking and our attacking set-pieces still not very effective and lacking in variety (hump ball into box and hope, doesn't feel like the team went through any routines during practice).

and when all fails, thank goodness stevie g is here to help us out. he's the wildcard in our pack.

why do i complain so much? cos i love the reds and want them to do well. but it's painful to watch us grind through the game without any real inspiration. And while i complain, i'll celebrate an ugly win as much as a real inspired victory. we have an exciting team this season and i really hope we can translate the quality on paper to real quality on the pitch. There's always hope of winning the league but to do that, we need to play consistently.

siao liao. struggled against haifa.:(

Let's hope this is a sign of more interesting thing to come this season. Chelski lost 1-2 to Middlesborough!!! Liverpool better buck up and take advantage. Man U seems to be starting well.

chelski fell down. :bsmilie:
let's see wat those smart arses in the newpaper will write about. :bsmilie:

man utd is fortunate to get easy ties.
charlton looks good to be relegated.
man city too.
reading is another one.

quoted from soccernet:
"Drogba, who had been unhappy with some of the challenges that had come his way before the break, returned late for the second half and was promptly booked for making his way on to the field without permission, hardly improving his mood. "

this is so funny. :bsmilie:

stuart pearce, as much as i admire him for the way he conducts himself, looks likely to be the first managerial casualty.

this sat is west ham. they are not so gd at playing away from upton park.
hopefully the boys can get used to playing with each other.
the new brazillian, fabio aurelio, looks lost in defence.:(

Remember 2 seasons back when we won the CL in Istanbul, it was the season where we had the most number of injuries? Doesn't the curent situation seem to be the same? First week into the season and Cara, Riise, Warnock and Sisoko are out for a few weeks, and Finnan and Paletta not fully fit. Man the defense looks week all of a sudden. The only 1st choice back 4 at 100% is Hypia. Left back looks really scary, no Riise, no Warnock, Paletta unknown..... wonder who will play there, Gerard?:bsmilie:

no carra and no riise makes our defence really vulnerable.

now warnock is out...
left back goes to aurelio. he's turning into a nightmare.

center back is hyypia and agger. ok, i think not so bad.

i still want to see Stevie G in the center of midfield with alonso as anchorman.
zenden should be a sub. gonzales on the left wing with pennant on the right.
Fowler and Crouch. :) bellamy can be the sub.:bsmilie:

From what i seen and read abt Aurelio, i think he is no Traore. And hope he wouldn't turn out to be 1 either.

Give that lad some time ;)
