Didn't watch the match. Was it shown?
From the reports i read, it looks like the same old problem. We have plenty of possesion but missing the bit of inspiration in the final third. Last season, I found our play was too predictable and we generally just hoof the ball into the box and hope. Let's hope that when their fitness improves, the lads will play better and show better understanding and movement. 2-1 leaves us on the knife's edge, the away goal could be costly.
The plus side, bellamy and gonzalez scored and it seems pennant did well and got crosses in. Let's hope we can hang on. We need the money...

match wasn't shown 'live'.

got a'lil depressed with the scoreline. the boys are perhaps still coming back to terms with reality and their physical fitness might be in doubt.

and rafa seems certain to sign dirk kuyt. not so sure abt this guy, never see much of him even in the dutch league much less the WC.
anyway, his appearances for the Dutch national team din't impress me one bit.

... would love to see crouch with bellamy upfront though.

Charity Shield tonight. No point reading too much into the results, even if we beat them...but i sure would love it!

Goal!!! WHAT A GOAL BY RISSE!!!

wat a great run and a great great finish by RIISE!

hopefully we can beat Chelski.

stunned that Rafa named a rather surprising lineup.
no hyypia... and the usual big guns. but still held a very strong Chelski 1-1.
Chelski lack Makelele which is great for us. :bsmilie:

2-1~~~!!!

hooooooooo!!!:bsmilie:

Yeah!! Crouch scores also:)

Notice that Jose "Moaner" is looking worse and worse. He started off in all his fancy Boss outfits, and now he looks just like any high school coach in his jumpsuit:confused: At least Benitez still sticks to the same styling.

oh yes, jose played down the significance of this game as a PRE-SEASON friendly. :bsmilie:

'they are in better shape than us...'

oh yeah...:bsmilie: wipe that smile from off his face!!!!:bsmilie:

Cheerrr for our reds. It seem we started the game in 50% strength. Hahaha opsss we won them in the end. :bsmilie:

WELL DONE!!!!

Who cares about what excuses Jose gave. If your team is not ready, whose fault is it? Nobody play to lose.

Well done lads!! A good show of depth too. Matched chelsea well no matter who was on the pitch. Now we must continue working hard and also show that we can be equally motivated against the smaller teams as well and we may have a chance of more silverware this season.

Well, Liverpool had done 5 cups in a season before, so hopefully this season they can do 1 better and capture 6 cups this season, including the Premier League and the Champions League. Liverpool has won the 1st cup, so 5 more to go;)

Extracts from CNA:"Large sections of the Chelsea end were unsold......"

Where are all the Chelski fans, please stand up:o

Everywhere I go, I see REDS...Woohooo..!

Bellamy and Pen seems to fit in pretty well which is really wonderful news. And Riise, always reliable to give that extra spark for any opportunity presented to him..awesome run

haha yeah. TOday see a fre REDS fans walking around. ;)

It may be only the charity shield but sure felt good. Had a high all day thinking about this win :)

At the risk of being a little bit of a wet blanket, I am worried that we didn't really create much openings when we were attacking, we were only dangerous on the counter. That was our weakness last season too, we had problems finding our way through when the other team sits back. We looked a little static in our play and the movement and passing could be better. faster one-touch passing and more intelligent movements in the final third would help a great deal. Just my 2-cents.

Good luck reds!

think "Moaninghno" is going to regret throwing his last EPL medal into the stands... he aint getting any! Anymore!
