this CHA errors still happen to recent Lexar CF? 1GB and 2GB?

This is what I have personally experienced...

It has happened to both 2Gb and 1Gb Lexar 80X CF cards.

It has happened to cards with old firmware.

It has happened to cards with new firmware. I know because I swapped my cards with Convergent after I had the "CHA" error on my Nikon D70S.

This is what happens...

When I get the "CHA" error. The camera locks up and you will not be able to take any photos.

I can resume shooting after I switch the camera off and then on again. Alternatively, you can also eject the battery if the previous method doesn't help.

However, the indicator on the lcd will show that this is the 1st picture that you take on the CF card. It's really weird... I would usually be able to continue shooting.

When I try to download the photos into my PC (via CF card reader), the photo where the error occurs is usually not recoverable. I've tried with Image Rescue. Doesn't help.

Anyone else has a similar experiences or a variation to this? :dunno:

Got the 'CHA; once on D1H with my recent bought 2GB Lexar 80X.
Gave me a shock at that time..
Don't know cam old or card problem.
Lucky pic all still can get back using card reader, just the few new pic gone.
My D70s never got the 'CHA' thing..

upzzz for response............:dunno:

Odd. I don't shoot much. But since my approx 4,000 shots I did with my D100, I don't get any of this problem with my 2GB and 1 GB cards both ending with A4B6 serial numbers.

Should I get it changed?

I had a bad experience too with this cards using D70!

It happend to me first when I shoot the Chingay Parade too bad am shooting halfway so some pictures are gone unrecovered... eastgear advised to have change at convergent for 1 is to 1 exchange for free. Since then i don't have a problem with my 1GB card after i change.

Last Comex at Suntec, I bought 2GB but again shocked! last Sunday when we had a studio shooting... CHA flash again in my LCD, again lost some images!

Wah! is it really a known bug for LEXAR? thinking for buying SANDISK instead huh!

Good luck LEXAR users!

By the way, my so called cheap-cheap CF card Hagiwara don't let me down for 1.5 years now!

BTW OT abit, i acc formatted the card, lost the softwares inside the card
how do i get them again? can download?

Cannot download one lah... Maybe get from other LExar users.

Upzzz again for more response. Maybe it's time to start a poll. It seems that Lexar cards may also have a problem with Nikon D70/D70S/etc. cameras

upzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... anymore Nikon users got problem with Lexar CF cards?

Did they ask any questions? Both of my CF (both A4B6) works fine with my oldie D100. If no questions ask, I might as well get it changed.

If they are off the same number as indicated in the first mail, I don't see why not. :)

Anyone has Convergent tel no.? I would want to call them before I go down.

My card just died recently. I wonder whether they have stocks for exchange. :dunno:

However, my CF can't be read by any card reader, so how to retrieve those images inside the card? :dunno:

Anyone has experienced it and how to solve it?

My friend's SD card just decided to stop working after her trip to Europe, and the card can no longer be recognised by any camera or card reader. When I brought the card to convergent systems, I opted for the data recovery service, and they basically sent the card back to taiwan for the recovery, and the process is supposed to take 2-4 weeks.... pretty slow...but at least it's free of charge.

I guess if you have the patience/luxury of time, ask convergent to send it to taiwan for recovery. If not, can always opt for one of the paid data recovery services.
