I intend to buy the following nikon lenses and speedlight for my d70 and would welcome any comments on whether it is wise:
1) AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED
2) AF-S 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED
3) AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF ED
4) SB800 Speedlight
I know it may sound crazy but I do have a budget of about S$13k for this setup. i am also debating whether i should get the d2h with some of the above lenses OR a d70 but with ALL of the above lenses. or should i wait for the dx 17-55mm/2.8? the only problemm with the dx lens is that it is not compatible with the film-type nikon SLRs, hence i can't use if for my older camera. also, there's some overlap in focal length between 28-35mm for lenses (1) and (2) which could make one feel a little wasted, what do you think? fyi, i am not a pro, only a amature photographer.
Any comment is appreciated!
coolingbean said:Thank you all for replying to my questions. Really appreciate it! I think I would need some time to take in and digest each and every one of your valuable inputs. I guess I would not rush into buying the equipment right away but would first do some hard thinking. Afterall, $13k is quite a lot of money.
Thanks again.
Wow  ... Can I give you a call to try those lenses also??? :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:gadrian said:Coolingbean.. give me a call.. and I can arrange to meet up with you.. can let you try all the following lenses..
24-120 AFS-VR
70-200 AFS-VR
17-35 AFS
28-70 AFS
50 f1.8
I think you really need to consider what would your main subject of interest be.. if it more landscapes.. then the 12-24 and 17-35 are good options..
I do find the 10.5 a unique lens.. more a cliched lens.. not suitable for most situations.. so think carefully about it.. and test what you need..

sykestang said:No... I've not tested your 17-35, at least not yours, I tested Diin's one... :blah:
For your 28-70... have been begging you to bring, but you never brought it once...![]()
And for your 70-200VR also... all along I tested AJ23's one... :blah:
Ok lah.. have to admit, I played with your beloved 24-120VR once... and as for your 50mm, I own one myself, so no point testing yours.
