both ah?

that's 3k.

7% GST?$210.
total price $3210.
Master your 50mm first.

If you must buy (don't know where to keep the money), buy 85mm. If you don't like it, sell it and buy 105mm.

Regards,
Arto.

If you can afford it and if you need it, why not get them both together?? You will be getting one now and later the other anyway.

BTW, if you sign card for it, you can actually ask for progressive payment...not so heavy on the pocket.

i'm taking chris advice lor.dun anyhow throw $.so maybe i'll get one first.

i'm a very frank person so do pardon me if i step on toes.

i think if buying small price items(small price as oppose to big pricetags like cars) also need to pay by instalments, it's a bit 'pathetic'.
again, this is my personal opinion.

Take full control of your 50mm lens (and also your camera). Know its advantages and disadvantages. When you see something you want to shoot with 50mm, without look into viewfinder you can imagine what should it be (composition, DoF, exposure), then you set your camera accordingly to get shoot like what you want.

Arto.

BBB (as our old fren use to say...)

and if you dun like it for whatever reason... let us know, we'll take it off you at a lower price... :bsmilie:

It does sound pathetic but not asking for say 12 months installments but maybe say 2 months. it would be like paying for 1 lens a month..not that pathetic. For a car, it different, you pay interest, this you don't. :D anyway, it was just a suggestion.

Shouldn't be a problem for you then! In that case get the 105DC first. There's one more ring to turn. Haven't you already ordered the lens?

Hope you'll find all the info you need and the lenses that will make you happy. (With no scarcasm intended.) If you felt i was being hypocritical and showing my true self to be of a nasty person. Then i apologise and retract my statements.

All the best in your journey into photography.

 y do u need these 2 lenses? i mean i can understand lusting for one of these, but both?
if the intended usage is for portraiture, u can't go wrong with either lens.

most often i shoot at f2 with the 105DC unless it gets too bright then i might step down to f4.

Cars are consumer items, much like photographic equipment, unless it is relied upon to make a living.

Paying for a car by instalments is also pathetic.

I would go for the 105mm f2 DC. I prefer the way longer lens bring the background in respect to the subject in singapore at least. I prefer to select a smaller section of the background and focus on the subject, less chance of ppl's head sticking into the pic or having a messy background... If you like it, go get it, and buy it with no regrets...

jeanie, get a nd filter while you are at it. Many times when I was using the 85 1.2, I had to put on the ND if not shutter speeds get too high.
