Lens recommendation for new Nikon D7000 user

Nope. Shot in Jpeg and didnt really post process except for exposure and contrast back then. Good suggestion.

Have you tried sharpening the images a bit?

Really impressive works with kits lens! But I can bet if you use 14-24mm f2.8, at the same situation, you will have even greater pictures.

I used my 18-55mm kit lens on my first DSLR that is the D5000 for 2 years before i started to venture further

A host of reviews and many forums dismiss kit lens as plastic and poor IQ but it still produced very good photos for me.

It was until i realized that i shoot a lot of landscapes at FF 28mm and 35mm that i got the 24mm f/1.4G (Back then equilvalent to 35mm DX) on the D5000. When i mean a lot i meant that a few thousand photos taken on the D5000 with the focal range 18mm to 24mm on the 18-55mm DX during my travels and at times 18mm wasnt even wide enough for me so had to improvise and stitch.

Knowing that, then i decided what lens to buy while also taking into account that i planned to get a FF body the months to come.

So, suggest that you stick to your 18-105mm kit lens and find out what is your limiting factor in terms of composition before your next purchase.

They say a picture tells a thousand words so here are some photos taken with kit lens back in 2011 to share:

Thank you for the compliments

The 14-24 is a very impressive lens but it is a lens that had specific strengths that surpass its hype for sharpness.

We must first know what we need to buy what is needed.
But to know what we need, we need to get out there to shoot, review and when the equipment becomes a limiting factor that we know what we need to get to go beyond the limits.
