[ Lens ] Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12mm f2.0 Limited Edition Black Kit Announced

i would buy the "upgraded" 45/1.8 if Oly were to launch one..

waiting for the 17/1.8 ;0)

12/2 is very nice and sharp and 75/1.8 is just a beauty!!!

I thought so previously, until I started comparing shots from my E-M5 + 12-50 with those from my previous 60D + 15-85. There is a significant difference; enough for me to wish I splurged on the 12mm f/2.

I think you will be surprised by the 12mm F2...

Sometimes, it will be very dull just to have all black. Some silver and blue (protector on my 45/1.8) spice things up.

Silver lenses with black body would get a little attention but not to the extend of a silver OMD.

The real reason behind all these is actually, I have better way to spend my money than on an over priced black 12/2.0. See the iPhone 5 if it gives you some ideas of the scuffing.

Local street price for this lens is very competitive... similar to that of Amazon's. It's more expensive than the silver version because of the black lens hood and cap that's part of the kit. But then I would prefer the silver version to go with my silver OMD body.

However, silver lens restrict you next time for silver body only for future purchases and black lens basically fits most of the, if not all body colors.

Do you mean I will be pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised? I thought the 12/2 has a good rep for great image quality?

Well..this is what i meant.

Camera nowadays is being seen as a fashion statement or accessories already. Its no longer just a tool for taking photos.
:bsmilie:

Manufacturer will just keep doing as long there is demand for it. People willing to purchase and the rich people want to look different or would want to collect them.

Very good eg. Lecia m9 Hermes edition :bsmilie:

I went over to funan and the price for the black edition is around S$1.3k. I took a peek at the box and aside from the lens there were 2 other boxes inside. One was a black lens hood. I am not sure what the remaining box is there for. Hopefully it is a leather bag? In that case, Olympus might be following in panasonic's footsteps in providing for lens hood but the price difference is much too high.

So how much is the silver version at this hour, how much is the difference locally? :-P

There is also a filter in the box, i think.

$1300 is ok, since the silver is about 1200++?

I think this price should be correct because the sales guy said that it is a S$200 difference. So for S$200 you get a bigger box and the black hood is made in china
