[ Lens ] First review of Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 OIS

Hi Wonglp. Thanks for the tip this morning re sending to Lawson convenience store if travelling to Japan. Looks like a great way to get this lens if travelling to Japan. I researched more into it and apparently for just a 315yen charge one can get it delivered to a Lawson store on COD payment terms i.e. pay for the lens in cash when picking up at the Lawson store. Have you tried this or will you be trying it?

Glad to help. Haven't tried COD, could be an option next time:)

Guys,
Anyone of you encountered the "fan noise" when using the 12-35 with OMD?
I didn't have this problem with the 12-50 kit lens, but when I mount the 12-35, and half-press shutter to focus, the "fan noise" came on.
This is exactly as what Steve Huff encountered when he was reviewing the OMD. My OMD body firmware is 1.5

Switch off the power OIS of the lens. Use only the omd ibis

If I remember correctly, it's the IBIS that's causing the noise.

From what I see though, it's a small issue and doesn't really effect things like video.

I only use the in body ibis and still get the sound

I noticed after switching back to kit lens, there is also this sound but less pronounced. It has to be the IBIS and nothing to do with the 12-35. Anyway, I do not use the OIS on the panny. I always default to internal IBIS. the sound is still there.

Oh i get that too!

The buzzing is actually quite audible. I was wondering what it was when it first started (thought the cam was overheating or something), but I was overseas and had no access to any other camera so kept on shooting. Other than it being noisy, it hasnt affected the photos. I have not tried video. But naturally would love to solve this noise issue.

Improved the AF speed with GH3(240fps control), so OMD owners do not know whether should download or not...

For solving the noise issue in OMD?

I dont know about you guys but the fan noise isnt really bothering. I need to put the lens next to my ear to hear it. Its really a tiny sound. Im not even sure if its coming from the body or lens

I thought it was not bothering me until I went to a really quiet and peaceful place :)

This is the 12-35 thread, why are you trying to link another lens review?

I think he is trying to show the part where Steve Huff is talking about the fan-like noise.

Based on that review date it should be using v1.1. Noise almost gone in v1.5

Hi everyone,

In HKG now, asked cam2 n was told the international warranty covers SG (based on the sales.s words) HKD8400. They have stocks , now deliberating to buy or not to replace my 12-50mm. This lens is pure poison

Anyone knows where to find the water good at HKD 7300 as said by a bro in a previous thread ?
