I keep reading about how fantastic Leica's lenses are - the Bokeh is always mentioned when Leica lenses are discussed.

May I humbly ask to see some Bokeh from Leica users please? :) Thanks in advance.

Leica 28mm summicron (f2) aspeherical on a 1.3x crop sensor.

Fullframe will show even better bokeh.

Northern Lights,

Thanks for sharing.

Gohaj,

Thanks for sharing too.

Both of you have quite nice pictures.

Generally, the older lenses tend to have smoother bokeh. There are also many Japanese RF lenses in LTM that have very nice bokeh too.
I started out with very very "sharp" Leica asph lenses, then moved on to older Leica optics but now my fav are Japanese LTM lenses from the 50's. Their sharpness is very pleasing!
In my camera bag are all Japanese LTM lenses from Nippon Kogaku, Canon, Fujinon, Tokyo Kogaku, Konishiroku (Konica), Chiyoko, Sankyo-koki, Tanaka Kogaku etc;)

Gommy, Hacker, Chiff and some others here, are the most appropriate person to show case the "different characteristic" of each old Japanese or non-Leica (not necessary limited only to Japanese) LTM or M lenses.

PLEASE.... consider starting a new thread or here, to show case ONE SAMPLE PHOTO OF THE LENS + ONE PHOTO TAKEN WITH THE LENS with your personal passion/feel for the lens and interpretation on the characteristic will be perfecto. Info like average market price and rareness for collection will be a bonus.

All RF CSers will definitely find it interesting and benefit from your vast knowledge and collection. :D

Respectfully

My personal comments of this lens:
1) Heavy & big E60 size filter, but handle great and focus smooth like silk
2) Great for portrait.... bokeh like paint brush with the right lighting condition
3) DOF is thin, and sharp at the point. Very fast, need to use ND filter to slow it down to shoot wide open during daylight

somehow, from the pics posted in this thread, i realised that the bokeh of the leica lens are not the smooth creamy type typically seen in nikon and canon...

leica ones seem to exhibit patches in the bokeh as seen in this thread

Bokeh from this lens is one of my favourite too..like a paint brush. Whereas DoveVadar one is on film. Here is some of my sample on digital M8.2 shot wide open.

"Bokeh" is kind of artistic expression and is therefore different taste to different people.
