Wah. Heart pain!!! I spend $110 on the case. Keep me posted if Schmidt replies. Hahaha.. I don't mind another black one. :bsmilie:
the case was only $110? thought that it was more expensive than that... i think i was quoted $190, after which, i never bothered to check the price...

Ok, to clarify what i said, i will not mention names but the shops did all they can to get the case and warranty for me.

I bought the camera from shop A....went to Schmidt to collect case...was told camera is export set and not meant for SG market....called shop A....apparently shop A is reselling from another shop B which is authorised agent....was told to go shop B to get invoice and present to Schmidt to claim the case....luckily shop B helped by faxing the invoice to Schmidt...but i still need to go shop B to get my warranty stamped and collect the Leica warranty....

All in all everyone did all they can to help me. So my point is to find out the authorised agents and buy from them to prevent from the experience I had. But I will not take away the credit from Shop A which assisted along the way. Kudos to them. If I have a choice, I will buy from them again....

schmidt says...

"We are having X'mas promotion for "D-Lux 4 ; C-Lux 3 and M8 model.
Any purchase during 8th Dec till 31st Dec for D-Lux 4 and C-Lux 3 you can redeem leather case direct from Schmidt Customer Service with valid "proof of invoice"and warranty cards."

i wrote back asking if can backdate. funny the leica site didn't specify any dates. well hope for the best.

Kanchong spider, i bought mine in Nov. :bsmilie: Too bad lah, early buyers always pay more (in one way or another) :(

was told camera is export set and not meant for SG market....

But I am curious Schmidt is disputing the set is an export set or you did not buy from authorise dealer? So buying export set from authorise dealer is ok ?

Are there difference between export set and local set? Is the packaging distinctive?

I am very hook. And with the promo, design and warranty. It draws me closer and distant further from LX3.

Well I am stating the facts....further queries pls refer to Schmidt. On to taking pictures.....

hey..why not the rest of you write in to schmidt also? see they can lift the date restriction and so that all d-lux4 owners can get a free case ;p

Well, I just went and got myself a D-Lux 4. The beautiful brown leather case was the deciding factor for me.. and now that they are giving it away free... how to resist? :)
What's more my favorite dealer gave me a very good price... much better than the one Cathay Photo :sticktong gave me. So now I qualify to post in this thread, uh?

Are there any other free items like SD cards, screen protectors, etc by the way. I was so pleased with my purchase that I forgot to ask. So just walked away with the camera only. :(

By the way, my dealer said that Schmidt has no more stock... he was on the phone with them when I was there and was told that stock is coming in only around Christmas. So if there's any more sets on the shelves at the dealers, that's all there are. Once gone, have to wait until Christmas for new stock. Those who are interested, better chiong !

The D-Lux 4 does not seem to have an adapter hood listed in its accessory list. I wonder if the accessories of the LX3 could be used on the D-Lux 3?

On the other hand, there are accesories which seem to be unique to the D-Lux 4 like the hand grip which I would love to get, although I think the camera would not fit in the leather case with it attached.

From every place I read, all LX3 accessories will fit D-Lux 4. They share the same structure. Only logical exception is the Leica Grip will not fit if you decided to use Lumix case. :bsmilie:

LX3 Lens adaptor requires step up ring to support 52mm thread size. I will probably get a 3rd party like PandaBase 52mm Lens Adapter from ebay. My adaptor for my D-Lux 2 is also from 3rd party.

Any good solution for tripod head quick release? Becoz of the slim body, most QR plates are too bulky to fit the leather case.

I just bought the LX3 lens adapter and it fits the D-Lux 4. The lens adapter has a filter thread of 46mm unfortunately and you would be hard put to find good quality filters at that thread size especially the multi-coated type unless it's the original Lumix filters which are frightening expensive. :(

Anybody believe that there are any real physical differences between the LX3 and D-Lux 4 besides the firmware and camera body designs? Something that could affect the image quality?
Well, somebody does... he felt that the lens coating is different between the LX3 and D-Lux 4 and has the comparison photos to prove it.

I like the lighting for this shot.
What kind of setup did you use to shoot this?

Thanks. I used 2 pcs of 580EXii (fixed with Garyfong whaletail) - left and right; a silver reflector on top. :)
