LED Video Light

Hi,

I intend to buy either a Spinet LED video light or Vidled video light. Has anyboby tried this lights? Care to give some comment about using LED video light guys?

Hi,

I didn't have what you mentioned. I've tried using white and bright LEDs for video, but there was a bluish colour. After that I didn't try anymore. Personally I still prefer the orange type light.

If the colour temperature of 5500K is correct, and the video doesn't auto adjust the colour temperature, I guess it should be ok. Jjust that the price is steep...

Does Video have white light balance? I might have missed out something...:embrass:

mrngbss, your videocam should have a whitebalance option.

But white balance isnt the best idea...
1.Get a different type of LED bulb.
2.The best way, add a gel "film industry coloured-filter-paper" over it

Sony has a new LED daylight balanced Portable spotlight using the NP batts for power. Just launched today in Singapore.

White balance works fine if your ambient lighting is also daylight. If you are working in tungsten ambient lighting, you have to balance the daylight LEDs by placing a piece of 1/2 to Full CTO (Lee filters) over the led light.

I saw the Sony LED video light at the HD World expo in NYC yesterday. Wow! Great size, good amount of light output, has built-in barndoors - light concentrator - softening filter. Connects to Sony BP batteries (I'll adapt to car lighter battery for my battery belts). And the Sony guy said it would cost $500.

Again...:thumbsup: It's on my list of accessories to buy as soon as they come out...which is supposed to be soon.

BTW, it was mounted to the new Sony HDV camcorder coming out which had a 20x zoom on it. What a great find! :bigeyes:

The new cam is the V1. The pricing in US is about 25% more than the ones in Singapore. The new products are already launch here on 29 Nov.

I just built a DIY LED video lights using 9 super bright LED lights bought from Sim Lim Tower. I use a 12 volts rechargable batteries. The output is equivalent to 20-30 watts of Halogen lights. I will be testing the lights this weekend on a wedding and will let you guys know the results.

Actually a magnifying lens will help increase the strength.

not sure if u have it but just a little suggestion..
try to integrate some soft filter to soften the lites.. personally think harsh lighting not nice.

I tried using my DIY Led lites yesterday for a Wedding during daytime but I was a bit disappointed because it did not produce the brightnesss that I wanted. I think I have to go back to the drawing board and get more Leds in my current 9 leds.

I'm using those super bright LEDs. For my initial experiment, I use 9 Leds attached to my existing portable video lights housing. The 9 Leds cost me $60, the battery $28 and the charger $28. I will try using more Leds or buying the ultra bright Led that cost a lot more. I saw a Spinet brand Led video light at Video Pro at SLS. The price is around $400 plus. I'm still considering whether to buy the Spinet light or VidLed. So far I haven't see anybody using those lights in Singapore. I hope those who have tried the Led lights can give some comments.

hmm...9 is too little. my initial concept already double yours liao. haha...but too bad i didnt get down to doing it myself cos not familar with all those controller etc. that seems to be required for better performance or something.
