I just built a DIY LED video lights using 9 super bright LED lights bought from Sim Lim Tower. I use a 12 volts rechargable batteries. The output is equivalent to 20-30 watts of Halogen lights. I will be testing the lights this weekend on a wedding and will let you guys know the results.

sound cool. remember to show it to us

Mine is just super bright Led. Luxeon is a bit expensive. Might as well use Osram new Led. One bulb equivalant to 200 lux! But the the price is a bit steep...
BTW, I'm commisioning a guy to build a video light using the super bright Led. Might be ready in 1 or 2 weeks time. Will keep updating you guys...:)

The Led Video Light that I commissioned a guy to do was not so bright when I did a test on a wedding last week. Frustated with the DIY thing, today I just bought the Spinet SKC-105 Led Video light at Video Pro for $600. I will be testing this light on a Wedding on the 4th January 2007. I will update on the outcome.

Hi Dodol, I was nearly gonna buy that set at video-pro.
Seems like none of the local camera shops carries video LED-lights..
ALittle fustrating when ppl overseas r using it and telling me to buy them.

Will be excited to hear about ur review..
cheers

Yea Hobbes00,
You are right, none of the shops that sell broadcast equipment selling the so-called Led Video Light. Even a friend of mine who is the supplier of broadcast video camera was in the dark about it when i asked him a day before i bought the Spinet Light. Video Pro IS the only authorised dealer that sells Spinet Light. I've checked this with Spinet manufacturer. There's a few Led Video Light in the market at the moment that Singapore shops don't carry them, such as Frezzi, Lite Panel, Vidled, IDX X3 and Zylight. Even Expandore don't carry them! Maybe we can try to do a MO if the Spinet Light is reliable. Just wait for my review.

Last week, I just finished shooting for a wedding. The whole wedding (3 days), was shot using Panasonic AG-DVC62EN, Rode Video mic, Spinet Led Video light and Giotto monopod only. It was a typical Malay Wedding. Solemnization was held indoor (HDB Flat) at day time. Normally, I will use a standard 1k watt halogen lamp and a portable 100 watt video light. But, that day, I used only Spinet Video Light and setting my camera shutter/iris at 1/50>Open>0db. The result was satisfactory with natural brightness and true colour! I was amazed.
During the Wedding Dinner on Saturday night held at the void deck, the result was satisfactory. Sunday Reception also produced same results. when I load to my editing suite, there were none of those "noise" or pixelation on the video.
I think the Spinet light is a godsend. It is worth the money.
Goodbye to those day when I have to carry the bulky spotlights, tripods and portable but heavy Lumens video light. :)

Well bro i will be building my led video light maybe abt 100 led surface mount led
will post it up later

100 led? Wow! I hope it will be better than my 105 spinet led lights. Please post after you have made the progress. I tried to built mine but after considering the cost and time involved, it is much cheaper to buy from the ready market. Anyway, Vidled is selling their led video light at about US275 only. You must take into account that you must find a suitable battery, charger, adapter, hotshoe adapter etc and your time.
Good Luck!

skc-105pic.jpg

Video Pro is that at Sim Lim Sq? What is the price now? I need 1:thumbsup:

Yeah,
That is exactly the light. The price has dropped to $580 before GST.
Video Pro is located at Groundflr of SLS (facing burlington sq).

Wow! 13 luxeon led light! At 1000 lux, it is super bright man! I am waiting for the product to be sold in Singapore. Any idea about the price?

Go to beach road hawker center army supply floor and look for a donut shape LED lamp with about 30 bulbs. It is sold online as the "mic-light" for USD150 but you can buy it for $12 at beach road

i am doing up my own led lights..however i need to get a bracket to mount to the hotshoe just like this:

http://www.pana3ccduser.com/showthread.php?t=9240

the important part that i need to figure out where i can get it is the silver square plate shown in the above image which would snuggly fit into the hot show. Anyone knows where got this kinda stuff??

just curious.. wat kind of batt do u intend to use? normal AA batt or Sony NP series batt? how do u intend to mount the batt?

I think Ruby Photos have some stuff like that. Your LED lights must be able to produce at least similar power to 75 to 100w halogen or else it will be quite useless for video use. Sont has one that meets that rquirement but is around $500 and uses the Sony NP batteries.

HI sundazz.... the mounting part is the issue and i need to get the stuffs. I dont think so i can do the diy lights by this month as i am loaded with projects for now. will post when done

The new Spinet SKC-LP13 is now available at Videopro. it can generate 1400 lux of brightness or about 3 times better than the spinet 105., but it is a bit bulky and the price is about S$900 plus. I have checked and tried at VideoPro.
Anyone have bought this new light?
