and what good is the warranty when there's no official receipt from a retail shop?

Well, if he is a retailor, he can issue receipt and Minolta accepts handwritten receipts (e.g. John 3:16, Cathay Photo etc) as well. As long as he is a dealer, and receipt can proof the purchase from an authorised dealer, there shouldn't be a problem.
