Pixels of an image from either a Nikon or Canon will appear harsh and granulated.

For those of you who started photography with film, will know how silver halide grains look like. Pixels from a Fujifilm DSLR look very much like film.

I am a 'film' person (and still is), so Fujifilm DSLRs appeal to me more than any digital camera.

how so.. is it to say the photos are less sharp on the fuji? well i think as long as not OOF like that can liao.. impt are colors and the DR.. :D i shoot Jpeg n people alot hence considering. D300 was considered too but even used pricing seems exp... tat can can load D2X profiles :D how does it compares to fuji. sorry i have never own a fuji b4

Trust me. The colour is very good. I just regret not plunging into the S5 pro when I sold away my D100. I plunge into a D2hs instead. The colour of the S5 is really cannot fight. Unless you post process the pictures from other cameras. Then I can't say anything.

Yes.... Images from the S5 Pro will appear less sharp than, say, those from a D300.

A Nikon DSLR-user friend of mine (hint: top-of-line model) ever compared images taken with the so-called D2x profiles with that from a S5 Pro. All I can say is, cannot compare lah.... colors on those images were not even close to Fuji's.

He bought a S5 Pro the following day.

No need to think so much lah.....

When Fujifilm S5 Pro first came out last year, I bought it without hesitation for S$2,550. Now that it costs less than S$1,200 a piece, I will buy two pieces without hesitation. Not that I am rich, but Fujifilm DSLRs very good indeed. I used to own the S2 Pro and S3 Pro, so I know the S5 Pro will be good too.

Oh, one more thing.... After you have used a Fujifilm DSLR, you will enjoy the 'process' of photo-taking more; knowing that the colors of your images will turn out correct almost 100% of the time, and not having to color-correct after that is a real blessing.

don't worry whether your photos will be less sharp. as long as you have the shot in focus all will be well. i have done a 24"x20" framed canvas print of my family which can rival those professionally shot ones taken using medium format cameras in terms of color and sharpness.

Got compatible S5Pro battery at $35 at unicell. So far so good.

chanxj: what is the capacity of the battery? MS color also selling one at $35 cap is 2200maH:thumbsup:

i rather get the original battery...$60+ if i recall.

i rather get the original battery

The original NP-150 battery has very good retaining power (I charged one of them a month ago and it is still full) and longer lasting.

This one is 1800 i think. Let me go back and check. Not sure abt fuji, but i have got better performance on compatible batteries for Nikon somehow.

So what's the best price for the S5 pro now ?

original one is $60++ right? hmm...

i think i'll still get the original one.

If you all want the original fujifilm NP-150 batteries for the S5 pro, I may do a MO on it. The reason is because I am thinking of getting 1-2 as well. We can go down to the camera shop together to get a better deal
