LASIK for Photographers

had mine done at shinagawa at wheelock place, about 2.7k all in. immediately after the operation, i was sitting in the waiting area reading a book. i went home and slept for the night, and was feeling perfectly fine the next day. had some dry eyes in the aircon room, but nothing eye drops wouldn't help.

after about a week, it was as if nothing had ever happened! shiok!

oh, and all the assistants at shinagawa are female..i thought some of them were quite pretty before my op. but after lasik not so pretty. haha

my op came with a 3-year "warranty", stating that if i require any corrective surgery within 3 years, it will be free. the benchmark is "legal driving limit".

anyways, i think almost anyone who had lasik is glad they have done it. provided you follow instructions and keep your eyes clean. best 2.7k i ever spent!

Done 4yrs ago, and the best $$ spent EVER...

I felt no pain during op, no dry eyes after, perfect vision. But till now night vision still not so gd; probably because my degree before was super high and cornea not so thick.

Many patients who have undergone LASIK, aside from those unfortunate few who have experienced intolerable side effects, have found their lives much changed.
As mentioned by quite a few CSers who have undergone it, certain side effects are inevitable.
One really must have a correct level of expectation before going for the surgery. That, in my opinion, is the most important issue.

Can recommend any place I can go. How about those clinic in JB? I heard much cheaper.

...any good doctor to recommend? cheapest i heard is 1.2k per eye in singapore. bangkok cheaper i heard. opinions?

LASIK has progressed so much that it has become a commonly performed surgery. Perhaps to the advantage of consumers, competition has rendered it so much more affordable. I sincerely feel that one should consider very carefully before venturing further out of Singapore. With no disrespect to the medical professionals in other countries, my opinion is that when we do our LASIK back (home) in Singapore, we are able to return for follow ups very easily and quickly without the need to travel again, not only for the regular follow ups, but also importantly in times of urgent need.

Yup.... I won't be having 20/20 vision also.... My left eye is nearly 700deg and thats not adding astigmatism. According to the Doc.... The best I'll get back is only around 97% vision :sweat:

Agree with few bros above....I did mine in May at Shinagawa (~2500 with GST all in) and I am glad I did......no side effect what so ever for me....prob because I have low degree...R250/L225 and I got my vision corrected to 4.5/6...that's above normal....fit to fly a F16 man :thumbsup: Now finally I can run, jump, swim, dive, eat, sleep, see my viewfinder without a spectacle :lovegrin:

wat i heard is the eye surgeon there better than jb one. cheaper somemore. they say it's a medical holiday or something with hotels and stay a few days to monitor conditions or smt.

was at the optometrist just now, to recheck my specs. turns out the first optometrist mis-diagnosed(?) my diopter rating. instead of increasing, it went down from 420 to 250! a couple more years, it'll be back to zero! yeah! oni problem is...astigmatism went up over 200.

so...wait a few more years can save on lasik! hahahha!

Wah bro, my colleague's cousin same, young guy, his eye sight starts getting better also very happy, now he's long-sighted leh...

I'll suggest you visit a specialist to check.

its even better if u already have stabilised "lao hua" or long sightedness. what the surgeon did for my sister is to correct one eye and leave the other eye with minor myopia (iirc, around 200+). in this case, the eyes will adjust accordingly/automatically and she has no need to wear reading glasses.

younger folks who corrected both their eyes to 6/6 will have to wear reading glass later on...:embrass:

Just woke up from my Doc enforce afternoon nap....... Must said, the Ops was quick and rather painless (only my wallet crying now). Vision is still kind of blur, like wearing glass inside a very cold A/C room..... and then stepping out into a warm wet afternoon... all 'Fog' up. But I can still see well enough to go home on my own by MRT (after some shopping). Hopefully by tomorrow.... the 'Fog' will clear up more..... :thumbsup:

Halo around bright light/object.... this part is slightly driving me nuts. My whole LCD monitor is glowing like crazy.... finding it kind of hard to look at it. But again, its just the 1st day.... :sweat:

Btw TS..... THE FLAP DOES HEAL... within a week. I have to sleep with 'Eye-Guard' for the next 1 week.... and according to the Doc, my FLAP should be heal by then.
