We have not talked much about lenses. This is one that I am setting up on copal #0
Very old and yet sharp wide lens. Very intense colour but limited for lens tilts/shift.
Covers 4X5. See hot it lives up against the latest lenses.

Wootsk, when I did B&W many years ago, my only desired formula is Microdol X.
For a long time I cannot see anywhere selling Microdol X. I don't like D76, and because of time I slowly shot less.
Microdol X is similar to D23? Or also similar to Perceptol?

They are different. I try to find the photo I took with D23. Some of the shots are under strong sunlight. But you can see the details in the shadow and highlight very clearly. D23 is not a fine grain developer, the power of it lies in low contrast and ultra wide grey-scale level. I prefer to skip the technical part.

Please remember to bring your cable release with this shutter. I remember I went shooting once without the release and having a tough time composing and framing with 1 hand as the other is occupied to keep the shutter open in bulb mode.

After fiddling with it today the leather covering the front came off, anyone have any idea how to replace it?? Or should I just glue it back

Any photos so we can access how bad it is first before giving any suggestion. If it is small, some glue and patching with tape should do the job. Make sure you go to a dark area like storeroom and use a torchlight to check for any light leak before bringing to field and use.

Leather? You mean on the camera?? :dunno:

Singapore weather is extremely warm and humid. Be careful if you do not store the stuff in air conditioned room (24hrs).

Fujinon Fever!
Always like the Fuji 6X9 so my LF setup based on Fijinon. Also because of reasonable prices.

Standard lens setup Fujinon 180mm F5.6

Modern EBC multicoated lens gives very nice contrast on color.
Black-colored Copal shutter version of the W series, image circle of 280 mm.
Six lens elements in five groups , copy of the classic Plasmat design
Shift/tilt allows lots of movement (the Field is very limited ANYWAY).

Fujinon 75mm F5.6

F5.6 allows better focusing when the light is dim. Stopped down to F16 and below should be the same.

Fuji made the 75mm F8 but the last batch stopped production 30 years ago.
This same lens is still under production by Fuji. The new one is over US$1100, used is about $400.
So it is a real bargain.
F5.6 still on a Copal #0 board.

i see that a film on amazon could be stock by multiple suppliers and prices varies a lot.

If theres a MO for 4x5 please lemmie know, i think ill just jump into 4x5

This is not that bad. Just the glue is gone in our weather.

You need to buy the smelly, yellow glue for mending shoes.
You also need to buy lighter fluid.

Peel the whole leather out, and clean it with lighter fluid.
Place the leather between newspaper, and put a lot of books on top of it to flatten it.

Clean the metal surface with lighter fluid.

When everything is clean and nice, apply a thin later of yellow glue on each surface.
Wait 10-15 minutes for it to dry, (dont do glue sniffing mean while!)

When both are ready, press together and let dry for 24 hours.

Thanks man I think I have some yellow tiger gum in the store rm gonna dig out. Can wait to get this guy going. Gonna try to remove the rangefinder to reduce weight. The bellows needs a good vaccum as well. Everything's. Working great, the lens that it comes with is kinda dusty but the copyright shutter seems to be accurate at above 1/10

packed by LF gears and went to 4 locations.

Took 2 shots and went through all the trouble to compose, focus, meter, load film , pack and move....

reach home happy happy and get ready to develop the films....

put my hands inside the dark-bag and realized that I took the wrong film holder out, no films inside holder !...

nothing was exposed

lol, poor Billy... Take it as scouting and wait for next opportunity for real shoot. I made that kind of mistake before too...

I have just inserted a small sheet of paper into the zip-lock bag.

one side written "LOADED", the reversed side with "EMPTY".
With this sheet of paper, I will know which film holder is loaded and which is empty and which is exposed... :)

we all been made mistakes of similar kind....i have shoot with film and ended up with a blank negative after developing!
since u have a zip lock bag to keep the dust out, i was thinking maybe unloaded holders will not have their dark slides totally push down.
Unexposed film has the white side face out while exposed film will have the dark side face out. (or the other way round). then u need not take care of remembering to place the paper on the correct side.

thanks for the advice... appreciated.
you see, there can be 4 case here :-

1) loaded
2) not loaded
3) exposed
4) not expose

with the black and white side on the dark-side ( flipping of exposed / unexposed film ), we can only know case 3 or case 4. Therefore, we still need another indication to know which film holder is loaded and which holder is not... haha... sounds a little bit stupid.. hahahahaha

cheers,
Billy
