SOLID piece of work... pei fu pei fu....

size 4x5 vs 6x17
The 4x5 is against a white board while the 6x17 is in the Canonscan film carrier. 6x17 is from my DIY (still prototyping) 6x17 single focus camera using the large format Nikkor 100mm W lens. It suffers from mega light leaks but technically it works.

Shoot 6X9 still have the convenience of processing by places like Fotohub.
Most of the LF lenses can cover 6X9.

This will be my setup for the next outing... This setup will be great to bring around for traveling.

Toyo 45A II
Fujinon 180mm 5.6
Nikkor 75mm F5.6
Graflock back
Beattie plain 4X5 screen with X10 X20 B&lomb loupe
6X9 120 back
Manfrotto 055 Pro

The Cooke found, set to Camera hospital for checkup.....

Too long and shuttle not working.

Sent about 15 rolls to Fotohub today.
A man told me we can send 4X5 Slides/Color to Thailand for full service.
Anyone any comments?

here are some links which might interest some of you.
Only for those above 18 though.

Booking for next April trip. The models are superb, at least got some meat. :D
Please don't like like those ugly anaorexic cases popular in European fashion scene. :(

I should be able to make it if nothing bad happens. But lacking in film holder means I need to chiong developing on weekday, guess I think I go dig out my larger developing drum and partition them to wack all films at 1 shot.

cannot understand Thai.. :)

but, I always have this wish ... that is to go somewhere , cheap photography tour by bus..... and then send the 4x5 films / slides for processing immediately after the shoot. Spend 1 day as a tourist in the country , and then collect the shots and go back home :)

This lab was mentioned in the LF forum before : http://www.iqlab.co.th/index.php?lay=show&ac=article&Id=558837&Ntype=8
About S$3 for a 4x5 E6. Assuming you send in a few slides , the airmail should still be ok.

Anyone use them before?

i looked at their prices to explore having my slides 120 being processed there. If i do a batch then it seems worth it - anyone worked with them before? any idea on how tto send, receive film, costs associated and how to make the payment?

cheers

i have emailed them. will share the info here if i get a reply. Is Fotohub still charging $8 per 120 roll? Then i probably will still send to them so that there is no risk of loss/damage from the shipping to and forth.

Further up we have another pro lab that still do 4x5 E6 in Hong Kong : http://www.colorsix.com/

Ok i heard back from Colorsix in HK. Their price is S$4.6 (HK$27) per 4x5 E6. Just another option for us.

Overseas clients are very welcomed.
You can pay the fund via paypal system but there're will be charged 4% extra if the amount under HK$ 200.00
Most of our overseas clients send and get return there stuffs by courier.
I thought plus an Xray protection bag will be better.

Shipping address.

Please read and be WARNED:

I have a friend who sent slides to HK to develop in the past. Pricing is petty cheap, but on the forth mail (if I am not wrong), he gotten his slides with a bit of issue. There is slight color off with a bit of high contrast. My first impression is reciprocity failure when he consulted me. But on question, he is using Velvia 100F and having a shutter speed of around 1/4. (reciprocity failure shouldn't happen by right) Putting the slide in wrong side in the holder or wrong white balance should result in color cast and not color off. So what I can suspect is only that the shop hired some unprofessional hobbyist to handle their developing either fully or partially when too much order by mail as such case happens mostly in expired or over reused chemical. (The film he gotten is from me when I freeze it and it haven't even pass the expiry date!) I am warning about the risk of sending your slides into the unknown to develop.

Billy, I went to Ayuthaya alone in 2005/6 period. The Thai people can speak English well.
If we stay in Shirikarin area, hotel is about S$80 per night, and can take train straight into Mah Boom Kong area.
If you like, we can organize a LF tour to Ayuthaya, I know the place and can guide. Taking the train north to Ayuthaya is only S$0.30!
Last time I was there I took only a Nikon 5400. This time, must bring a big one.
My old thread is somewhere in this site.

These guya charge 100 thb tta about 4.10 per roll u

They charge 250 for mounting thats about 11 fotohub is 15.

Ok i heard back from IQ Lab of Thailand. They also suggest courier services which will definitely increase your costs which will probably offset the cost savings. But for 4x5 shooters who want to shoot slides and do not want to do home development, at least there are still options.
