My pentax analog meter is otw from US. Haha after this Im all set for shooting! But its virtually impossible to print 4x5 huh?

Gonna do contacts when my holidays comes around!

why not? get an enlarger like Lualua and we will all come your house to try .. muhahaha...

C'mon, isn't shopping part of the fun? I love it!
Have to agree on the darkroom part, not having printing capabilities is like having a perpetual itch you cannot scratch - sibe buay song one!!

true, shopping is quite fun.. i got addicted few months back when i first try ebay for nikon FM2... but getting tired some times...

now as i explore more, it seems the only cheap LF setup is Speed Graphic (hope i got the name right), i am eyeing Sinar F2, but it is quite expensive.. ... seems that LF setup is more expensive than MF like Mamiya RB67..

IF you're doing artitecture with your LF, a speed graphic is not a good choice,

Its true that you do not need much movements but a speed graphic offers almost zero movements, just a measly 5cm rise.

Try looking for a calumet setup, shouldnt cost more than 200 usd

Go to Largeformatphotography forum or apug, whole setups pop out once in a while for very reasonable prices

Well, there's a pretty good Sinar F1 for sale here. The F1 is definitely a lot nicer than the lower end Calumet - not that the latter is any bad camera. From the archives on photo.net, there are several photographers that still hang on to their Calumet NX even after upgraded to more expensive models.

Hi

Wat do u guys think of calumet 45 ? Very cheap on keh.com

Thinking to get one for architecture n landscape shoot

Tks

thank you very much for coordinating with this.:)

Thanks to all you guys willing to share the shipping cost! Just to let you guys know that due to Provia 100f and control strips being on backorder, the shipping is delayed. However, due to the delay, new stocks for the Harman Direct Positive 4x5 Fiber paper came in and I've added that to the order - so sweat100 - you'll get your direct positives :-) Once the order is on its way, I'll let you guys know! Just hang in there!

hi brother

tks so much. for a newbie like me, i just surf net n look at pictures.. and these monorail all look the same to me.. so i really got no idea which are good.. but from some research it seems Sinar F2 is very good for architect stuff.. ( i hope to get building straight, have some fun trying contact print... )

saw F2 selling on ebay for 500 plus USD.. very expensive for me!! ;p

and a F1 for usd 279 before shipping.. so is this deal you mentioned too expensive? but he is offering additional wide angle bellow, which i guess would be useful for 90mm lens (read somewhere this 90mm is more than enough for architect shoots, just wonder why not wider.. )

Ok, basically for me, the sinar F series and a calument isn't too much of a different. The one that I would say having a different is the sinar P series (They are not cheap). Reason being is that the movement control between a F series and a calument isn't too much of a different. But sinar does has a advantage of having a great inbuilt DOF caculator. (It is very very useful, trust me)

The reason being different is because of the P series is geared movement which allows highly precise movement. Unless you have alot of money to throw, vege bird don't advice you jumping into a P series being a slight better newbie than vege bird. The only different between a F and a F2 is the metering back and the locking system for front swing from left to right and shift from left to right. The advantage sinar has over calument is the wider range of equipment and ability to mix and match better. Except the A series, the rest uses this cylinder rail which is standard over the rest of the sinar series. Bellow lock are also almost the same throughout the whole series.

Sinar also got a lot of interesting add-on like the reflex view hood where you attach to your rear and view the ground glass through a small opening which is something like the size of cyclop sunglass in X-men. I personally find it errr... interesting to view, but not much of a use unless you really cannot visualise inverted image in your frame. I tried it on the camera which a friend of mine owns it and I get this feeling "wow cool... but it seems a bit small O.o"

Vege bird back to eating leaves. (So any botanic garden outing or Vege Bird will take it's time to eat leaves at Sembawang instead) Too noob liao :(

wootsk owns a F1, and it's really nice the last time I checked it out! I believe the F1 is also of the yaw-free design? - that's another plus in addition to the DOF calculator. Most other brands only have yaw-free cameras in the higher end line-ups.

USD279 with a wide angle bellow sounds like a good deal to me - if there's nothing broken on the camera!

To understand a bit more about operating the view cameras, one book that constant gets recommended on the various forums is "Using the View Camera" by Steve Simmons. You might want to grab a copy too!

hi losheng, tks alot, i will sure go find a copy of that book.

hi wootsk , we met before.. remember? in peninsula plaza.. n u demo how to use your sinar.. i remarked that "wow it's a sinar" and u r quite surprised! remember? haha..

guess it is either Sinar F1 or F2 or Calumet.. how about 45CX ? is it good?

one very important question, is contact print really easy to do? no need darkroom to do contact print right? just need glass, film , paper, put them together, exposre to light and then ? put the paper into chemical and image will appear?

vege bird, u now at which tree? i got 300mm.. can shoot u? ;p

F1 Used but in very good condition. Includes additional bellows for use as a lens shade, wide angle bellows and additional monorail! $425

O.o I meet you before? I only remember I went peninsula shopping to ruby to get films and some other small stuff only. I don't go plaza often except see see when I went pass there.

U need to be in darkroom! or a room with safelight (those red color light) else yr whole stack of paper will be fogged when you open them out to take out a piece.

if you are new to film photography, maybe you want to borrow a 35mm SLR and shoot a roll of B&W and a roll of slide and see if you like the medium, the shooting process and the efforts to process it. LF is even slower and time consuming. B&W 4x5 film you can still send to Fotohub to process or self process but slide(E6) you definitely have to self process it.

of course if you enjoy the learning processing then jump in!

Recently had my roll developed. First roll of 6x7 on my speed graphic. Also happens to be my first 120 film developed. Anyone seen these funny bands before?

Brother.... honestly, you might as well shoot Lomo with Holga....

Haha yeaah duno why its so disappointing
how does it look like under a light box? usually it look better.
and what kind of slide is this? . some slide like the velvia 50 looks much better during the warm light periods. Using a Velvia 50 with flat lighting would not be so great like u see in a few of my Bukit Brown shots.
