Actually white looks quite nice. But I still prefer the gold ED ring plus the chrome ring on the MF lenses. Seems like the new lenses doesn't have that distinctive gold ring anymore..

All the Trinities have the gold ring.

No wonder they're called the trinities... Now I finally understand.. The other ED lenses comes with just a tag that says ED.

yup.

the D70 kit lens is ED, but no gold ring.

seems only the Trinities & the 17-55 F2.8 DX has a gold ring.

Yeah.. think so.. so I guess the 17-55/2.8 is supposed to be put in the same category as the Trinities.. Hmmm.. *hands itchy liao* :think:

:angel:: "lsisaxon :nono:!!!"

Think only the 28-70 and 70-200 have the white versions for zooms.

For primes, the 300, 400 and 500 all have white versions.

Technically "light grey". ;p

Not forgetting the 80-200AFS, 300 F4 too.

any technical reasons for the 'grey' colour?

Canon uses white to keep the lens 'cool' so the flourite element can retain it's optical properties.

Nikon use some form of same material?
