Day 3 - conitnued.
Day 3 is coming to a close.
Just like Day 2, Day 3 seemed never-ending.
In a short span of 12 hours, we seemed to have traversed the whole of LPB.
From the cold of the early morning, through the scorching heat of noon, up till the breezy cool of evening.
"6pm. Meet at the foot of Mount Phousi, just opposite the Royal Palace Museum," instructed Adrian, "and be on time."
Mount Phousi
Phousi is only about 100m high, a small knoll with three small Wat upon it.
"300 steps of stairs from bottom to the top, any body can do it in 10 minutes," remarked our super-fit Adrian.
All of us looked at him quietly. Kekeke...
Started climbing slowly up...

When we finally reached the top of Mount Phousi (don't know why people call it a Mount. It is
really more like a small hill.), it was still bright and shiny. We found little space for us to position
our tripods. The only decent place for shooting sunset is a small ledge over-hang which has
no fence what-so-ever. And right in front of that, the view to the Mekong was blocked by
lots of shrubs and trees.

This is the Wat right on top of Phousi. Until today I still can't figure out whether this is
the smaller Tat Chomsi wat or the bigger Wat Pak Huat. But Adrian just calls it Wat Phousi.
And so Wat Phousi it will be to me lah...

All these so far are just record shots of no artistic value, apart for record purpose.
Here is the other side of Phousi shooting towards the bridge across Nam Khan.
Lucky to have a Propeller plane doing its landing...

Day 4
As always, the first round of shooting left a little more to be desired.
Thus Adrian's plan for a second round of morning shoot for the monks' procession was greatly welcomed.
After the second round, our general consensus was we tended to shoot better the second time round.
Just for the record, a few shots here only.

Yes, the morning market again.
But as this was the 4th day, we were all ready to go all out and eat.
nleong found this stall selling what appeared to be chilli kway teow
with all the condiments, spices and mint leaves.... very interesting.
The local Laotians just sit around the table here at the morning market.
So we also squeezed in.
We did look funny, all big guys sitting on the wooden bench. Keke...

I ordered something that looked like deep fried pork skin together.
It was so delicious that by the time I remembered that I need to
do my job and take some record shots, I have almost finished the
whole bowl of kway teow... aiyoh... sorry sorry...

10am on the last day at LPB.
A few more adventurous of us made our way to this massage spa for a very good session of
Traditional Thai Massage (ironical, wasn't it?) for 75,000 Kip (about S$12) - 90 minutes.
The Mango Lassi drink was fabulous (thanks to toolbox22!), when administered with the massage.
Don't forget this signboard, ladies and gentlemen - years later you may want to come back
here for another round... haha...!

Our domestic flight was originally scheduled to depart at 1:15pm.
But as things in Laos usually went, there was not one delay, but a double delay.
So finally we took off at 2:30pm for the 45 minutes flight back to Vientiane.
Adrian tried all he could, but it was a little late.
Pha Tat Luang closed at 4pm, by the time we beat the traffic jam to reach it,
the central Golden temple was closed.
But heck, we still had a good time shooting silhouettes.
Here's us walking across the square towards the temple.

It was a majestic palatial temple with surfaces reflecting the Golden Light.
Even simply beholding the structure from without its inner walls, was a breath-taking
experience.

Looking back, we saw the main gate with the sun streaming down.

Here, the gate of the inner wall remained tightly shut to
this team of photographers from Singapore (and Indonesia)...
There can only be one meaning - a trip in the future awaits.

The twist is at the 4D. Remember the maroon color car? The number 0043 was the top prize for 4D, I think for the week we just came back. (The 0043 according to newspaper, xing ming, was revealed by Tua Pek Kong ). Don't know anyone got bought or not. If bought, is at least 1x 1DMk4 or 1x Infrared D3X liao. :lovegrin:

I like the way you capture the portraits of the monk and that child.
Some how the focus is always on the person and it always turn out sharp and well isolated from the background.
