kx or k7

Ah. Can forget about A*135. Highly elusive. Even if you can find second hand, be prepared for some $1.8-2k. And it's a manual focus too. BUT.... It's a god-like lens!!!

elusive ? it was selling very cheap at a 2nd hand store right here is SIN :bsmilie:

FW got it ahead of many of us who knew about it a little bit later...

So, it's back to elusive, isn't it? <: You can take it that FW strike toto or win 4D.

Yeah, it looks "not tat nice" nor cool. But mind you, this is one heck of a lens. You probably need to be a Pentaxian long enough to be able to recognise it. Else, if you see it on street, you may think it is some old school cheap lens.

But that's what we want people to think. Makes us less of a mugging target than someone carrying a huge red-ringed item. :bsmilie:

But in all seriousness, the Canon/Nikon premium primes do look tempting to most people for their price/AF performance/availability ratio. But Pentaxians are not most people. We go for quality and aesthetics, which is where the manual lens line-up comes in. (The DA and FA line-up are impressive too) Why do you think other camps want Pentax legacy lenses on their full-frame CaNikon mount? ;)

Yeah manz, especially FF Canonians tend to mutilate our good old limiteds and *'s. Sad thing to see.

Nice one, pinholecam. Yeah manz, somehow I love Pentax A series best, in terms of design and built. And they are not all built the same - surprise? The 1.2, 85* and 135* are the creme of crop of the A series - in built and optical quality. Much tougher to complete than say the FA limiteds (in silver). Lol.

well, its hard to use the A*85 unless your subjects are more static... focusing only on the center AF point abit hard to compose at times but for marco is another story... but i have to admit the A*135 is pretty awesome with my 5 minutes of using it...:bsmilie:

The FA* performance is only marginally lower, auto focus any time for xmm shoot... :bsmilie:

wait for 5DII to depreciate too low value, cut the mirror and use live view, no need to modify the FAs...

Hi all,

Today went to buy my very first DSLR with my friend(who ia a C user). Went in and straight away asked about the Kx. Not much consideration as I have aimed this model. So, packed everything into the box and chit chat a bit with sales person. Then I asked about the K7 and he showed me. It feels heavier and a bit bigger. I asked a few questions here and there about the k7 and about my future expansion. Talk...ask...think....ask.....think.....and at last changed my mind and got the K7 with the 2 WR kit lens. The price of course is different. But, my friend and the sales person share the same ideas........it is good to have a good camera body...(of course it must be within my budget).

Now will spend time playing and exploring my new K7.....If got questions, i will know where to seek help.........ClubSNAP. I will join you guys for outings (if timing is correct) and learn from you guys...

Congrats on your k-7 :) For me I knew I wanted the k-7 so go to the shop like 15 mins later buy ald...:bsmilie:

Hahaha...same like me when I decided to buy my Kx.....go in ask a few questions...actually all easy questions( price, warranty, any freebies) and say ok.

But, when the K7 came into the scence.....took me quite a while to think and decide.....:):)

Next thing now is to buy a bag.....hahahaha....

Congratz in your purchase of K7! I just bought my Kx last weekend. The boss of the shop also wanted to show me the K7, and I told him "NOO!!"... If at that time, he really take out the K7 and let me see, I am sure I will end up like you.... Hahaha... :bsmilie: K7 is just simply irresistible!

Agree. K-x feels too toy-like. Once you touch the k7, it's probably hard to buy the k-x. More than anything else, its the built and handling that makes a good body. Yes, IQ is secondary.

I know.... :) I have seen many pics and reviews of K7... That's why I would rather use the "see no evil" approach when buying my Kx... LOL.... But, if tonite win toto 5M, then mai-too-liao.... I will buy the silver limited edition K7 (if still got stock)...

Hiya all, can i ask if any bro here has made comparisions on AF speed & accuracy between the 2? especially during indoor conditions...

Need it to capture kids & cats but cos using zoom lenses mostly, so havent trained enuff on my MF...

Also considering if it is worth it to upgrade to either Kx or K7 from my trusty K10D ;)

 Loving your K7 more and more each day.. :bsmilie:

Quite on the contrary actually. I have a love-hate relationship with the k7. On one hand, it is has a nice built and is pretty advanced, yet it does not offer me the quantum I had expected over my k10d. I would probably have love it if it were my first and only camera. It's complicated...

Wah.. sound like a 1st love problem lolx....... Or maybe you expect more out of the K-7 :D
OO you have a k10.. then u are able to give ur thoughts more to "dielah" on AF speed and accuracy any difference?

I don't own a K-x nor K10m, therefore i don't know is there any differences at all. K-7 AF is fast and accurate during normal lightings. If dark/low light situations or shooting objects which have black or glossy surface , i always have problem focusing. Therefore, manual focusing comes in :bsmilie:

Did play around with friends N/C set, personally felt they focus faster. But did not really try when the subject is at low light and shooting objects whoch have black or glossy surface
