[kuantoh] Travelogue - Our Honeymoon in Switzerland 2011

Wow, kuantoh. Great series!
You had a tremendous weather while you were there. Never imagine September would be nice in Switzerland.
I plan to go there next June/July :)
Did you have any rainy days during your trip?

I saw a couple of your shots had a pretty dark environment (in Chillon and caves)
What lens did you use there?

Regards,
R

PS: Ah and congratulations for your marriage! :)

25-09-11: I apply much excessive color and contrast treatment to exaggerate on the textures of the rocks and playing around with the falls.

Amazing photo. The textures and colors are amazing. Beautifully done PP :D

Thanks for the well wishes :) June - July almost the perfect summer in Swiss Alps. Waterfalls are abundant with waters too. Just watch out for huge crowds. I did encounter rainy days during my last few days there but they were not long though, probably drizzling for an hour then cleared.

As for shots in the Chillion castle and caves, I mainly had my 16-35 F4 on. Shots in low lighting mainly shot at ISO800 to ISO3200.

Thanks for the comments. Just playing around in PS with this shot.

25-09-11: I forgot the name of this hotel. This was a shot of the hotel with the beautiful flowers in foreground and the valleys in the background. Lovely streaks of clouds in the background too.

25-09-11: Wifey decided to take a break and here I am, heading out for a sunset shoot. Weather was not on my side as the skies began to turn cloudy. Ended up waiting at this place here and managed just one shot of the cows being called back home. The march of the cows... Lol...

26-09-11: Start of day 7 of our honeymoon. Unknowingly, a week had passed and we were very excited about today as we are heading to the "Top of Europe" - Jungfraujoch. We were waiting in the morning at the Lauterbrunnen train station to head to Kleine Scheidegg thereafter transit to Jungfraujoch on the Jungfraubahn. Lucky us we head off right in the morning which was less crowded.

26-09-11: Bought our tickets to Jungfraujoch for the day. CHF115 is about SGD165. Gosh. But is worth it.

26-09-11: Shot of one train with the backdrop of the magnificent Swiss Alps. If you noticed, light streaks are slowly oozing from behind the alps as the sun was rising higher and higher.

26-09-11: A magnificent light burst lasting for about 2 mins. It was really challenging to capture this as the train was moving and compositionally there are not too many things to compose with. Finally decided to compose in this manner such that it looks like an eruption of light. Nothing can describe my excitement when I saw this. Lol...

Simply marvellous country, eh?
Those slow shutter captures... you were bringing your tripod all along? Even inside the caves? Not troublesome?

More pictures please :)

Ya. Perfect country to retire (but really ex... lol... Can shoot landscapes all seasons all day)

I only lug my tripod for sunrise and sunsets (which are not many on this trip). For the rest of the day like in the caves and slow shutter, I am relying on available support or handheld.

26-09-11: A hot afternoon when we approached Jungfraujoch. First stop at this lookout point - The Plateau @ 3454meters above sea level. With snow all year round, this is a sight to behold.

26-09-11: A close up of the Aletsch glaciers. This is also listed as a World UNESCO Heritage Site for its impressive Eiger Monch and Jungfrau rock massif and the glacial landscape surrounding this Great Aletsch Glacier. This glacier is the biggest glacier in the Alps with a length of 23km.
