24-09-11: Start of a great morning in preparation for the hike to Saint Saphorin and back Vevey. Lovely morning views of Vevey from the window of the hostel we stayed in.

24-09-11: Lake Geneva in the misty morning with a lazy swan drifting with the currents.

24-09-11: The weekend market was right at our doorsteps. We walked out and there we were, with fresh local produces in front of us. We had some bread in the end.

24-09-11: Some students probably girl guides from a school, setting up a stall to sell muffins and drinks. Just fooling around before the real action begins.

24-09-11: After arriving in Saint Saphorin, we took a sneak peek into the church before heading up the vineyards to embark on a hike back Vevey. Built in 1530, situated amidst old cobblestone streets and lovely alleys, this church is easily missed.

Very nice church! Did you try layering two layers to prevent blow outs from the windows?

Suggest to crop out the bottom, so that you can have a greater semblance of symmetry... Like maybe until the start of the benches where there is no missing bench on the left. :)

Love the earlier fog pictures as well. Did you try a longer isolated shot of the mountain layers for #90?

Sad to say only one shot of the church from the interior :( Never thought of getting one more shot to bring back the burnt highlights that time.

As for the morning fog shot in #90, the sun was pretty high up that time already and light were spilling all over. I did burn back some of the areas but unfortunately still can't get back more details. If I had taken one more shot underexposed for the mountains, may have worked but not sure under that kind of lighting conditions could it be done as the sun rays were spilling over. If earlier that the time I took that shot would have been good.

24-09-11: From Wiki: "...The Lavaux is a region in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, in the district of Lavaux. Although there is some evidence that vines were grown in the area in Roman times, the actual vine terraces can be traced back to the 11th century, when Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries controlled the area. The Lavaux consist of 830 hectares of terraced wineyards that stretch for about 30 km along the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva...". One reason I chose to take a hike through here was for the beautiful vineyards and architecture set against the backdrop of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Also a World UNESCO Heritage Site, this place is full of history and culture.

24-09-11: Approaching a vineyard/winery, I stopped to take a shot of the famous Lavaux terraces. No wonder it is listed as a World UNESCO Heritage site. Even till the road and streams, you will find the grapevines near and at steep levels.

24-09-11: We read a lot about hiking in Lavaux vineyards and no wonder this was no surprise when we passed by this winery and the owner offered us a wine each to quench our thirst and introduce us around his facilities. The owner is local, wife from Australia but later come back to Swiss with wife as he cannot stand the weather in outback. Lol...

24-09-11: The last hike back to Vevey was really ardous. My wife was complaining of the hot sun, the painful feet blah blah... I treated her Asian cuisine and after which, I went on walkabout Vevey shooting around again. Lol... This was taken at a junction in the hot mid afternoon.

24-09-11: Notice that the top storey units have really nice architectures. Rounded, pyramid rounded pyramid. Alternating and repetitive. Unique...

24-09-11: Seems like a fork drop from outer space into Lake Geneva. Located just across the Musée de l’Alimentation (Nestlé Alimentarium), a museum devoted to the history of food products. The fork is in commemoration of its 10th anniversary, and so it is not a permanent structure. Not sure when it will be removed but its looking really unique against the backdrop of mountains.

Who knows there may be a giant fish at the tip of the fork under the water? :bsmilie: Lovely take.

You do have really creative ideas. Lol... I never thought of that. But after saying, it maybe the legendary Lochness monster has migrated there and the almighty Thor changed weapon and thundered a fork down to hold it there. Wahaha...

24-09-11: Pans and pots and all the various cooking utensils displayed in the Musée de l’Alimentation. So commonly seen stuff can be part of a display wall in here.

24-09-11: Spotted a wedding couple in the park and at the same time, there was another couple. The foreground 2 ladies were bathing in the sun while the attention were all on the newly weds. I find this particularly amusing.
