Konica Hexar RF slide shots: Scanning quality

Hi bros,

I just got a Konica Hexar RF few weeks back. Been shooting with both my Hexanon 50mm and Summicron 28mm lenses using a roll of Kodak Elitechrome 100 slide film. Results below:

I scanned slides at Fotohub but I am seeing 2 things--over-sharpening and some grid-like artifacts over dark areas. I know the over-sharpening is caused by the scanning process. But what could cause the artifacts? Is it:

1. because of my in-camera exposure setting
2. film development process
3. scanning process

Hope the experienced bros on this forum can help. P.S. Pictures are zoomable so you can expand the image for a more critical pixel peeping. :)

Could be my PC, but I cant access your hyperlink.

The over-sharpening is slight but observable. The drum scanner usually automates the USM process into the batch settings.

The grid one I have not experienced this but you might have a better idea whether is scanning or camera/film by using a loupe.

Looks like the scan quality from fotohub isn't great.

That aside, looks like your shots could use a little +/- exposure compensation for a few of the shots. The hexar meters in the center so be careful with that :) Happy shooting!

Most of them look underexposed, could use a little editing.

Thanks bro. I looked at the slides and they seem fine under a loupe. So I am guessing this is probably related to the scanning process?

I never like Fotohub's scanning. Always very grainy (digitally) and over-sharpened. I'd prefer to scan them myself and waste that 1-2 hours and manual effort doing so to achieve better looking images.
