Kodak Tri-X development

ideally, push developer results in better shadow details despite the higher iso.
if you r using a non-push for push at a higher iso , then what becomes apparent
is the higher contrast and lack of shadow details.

thanks for the illustration!

i am trying out one roll now at ISO 1600 from the MO I bought from you hehe. but without push developer.

What I got for the net

"Tri-x @1600
Tri-X in HC-110(B) for 15 min 15 sec. Agitations initially 30s, and every two minutes thereafter for 10s each cycle. I've been doing this for about two months now with consistently good results:

Alternatively ,

At ISO 1600, I've been happiest with HC-110 1:100, 1 hour, agitate every 5 minutes. Double that for 3200. It's not as good as box speed, obviously, but that's the best I've been able to do as far as retaining shadow detail and keeping the grain reasonable.
"

here's my contribution...

Using Arista Premium 400 pushed to 1600.

Developed with HC110 Dilution B for 16 mins (1st min agitations, there after every 1 min of 5 sec agitations). Then edited in Lightroom 3 (auto tone + punch + apply slight S curve)

This is the result.

i still find the grains quite fine for ISO 1600... hmm is this due to the developer? the way I develop? or its just the film itself (fine grains)?

i added grains so not pa-kay but i thought you mite like dis:

contax ax with 50/f1.4 planar + tri-x 400 rated at ei of 320

I think you'll love this photo from my friend.

Tri-X in Xtol. It's actually a scan from wet print

Have been shooting @400 lately because I'm kinda lazy to experiment with pushing this film.

Nikon FE, Nikkor 35/f2.8, Tri-X, HC110B

Tried something different this time, I did a 30sec agitation followed by 5 sec for every 1/2 min and the grains are more pronounced. I think I'll stick to 5sec agitation every 1/2min for HC-110B. I'm quite happy with what I can get out of the Tri-x now(yeah my expectation isn't that high), will be moving to try out the Ultrafine Xtreme 400. If the results are good I'll prolly stock them up cos I might not be able to afford if film price keep getting higher....

Ok maybe getting a camera with 100% viewfinder is a good idea after all....

I have been having very grainy results from Ultrafine Extreme 400. It seems consistent with some comments on Flickr but wanna check if you guys see the same. Sorry OT from Tri-X, I've already ran out of Tri-X =p

Tri-X 400 developed with D-76@fotohub

shot on the Olympus 35RFD

love the grains in this photo, the scanner did a good job of bringing out the grains.

Just developed 2 rolls using HP5+ timing, will post results tonight if I have the time to scan. The negs sure looks like HP5+ to me

i actually ask fotohub to push 1/2 stop more in development for the UF Extreme 400 with HP5+ development.
i am curious to find out about your results.

i tried HC110 Stand development on Tri-X, results are okay for this roll,
need to do a few more to determine if this is replicable.

HC110 in 1+100 dilution, did 2 rolls in one tank, 1 for tri-x at 400 , and 1 for acros 100.

600ml water + 6ml of hc110. all in room temp water, around 28-31C

1 min agitation = 20 turns of the tank
15 mins left alone
mid-way, agitate 5 turns
15 mins left along

water stop bath -> fix -> wash

that's it.

looks okay, my notes say can reduce time further as it looks over developed.

your mileage will definitely vary.

Ultrafine Xtreme 400 HC-110B 5mins. 5sec agitation every 1/2min

Straight out of scanner. I find Tri-X better as the grains are more pleasing(to me), but dollar for dollar I think this is not bad at all

From my UF Extreme 400:

Generally gritty but slightly excessive for me. I've not ruled out the reaction with Diafine or my scanner. Cleaned my scanner and filter/replenished my chems. Looking to see if things improve.

Just found out that the Arista Premium in 100ft is off the listing. Arrggghhhhhh! It was there a few days ago but I didn't check out my cart. Hope it'll be back

Tri-x 400 pushed to 1600, Rodinal 1+50 18.5 mins at 20 Celcius, I love Rodinal!
