Killing a crab

this is ok what, compare to some, they bbq the crap alive, see the poor thing struggle till death.

also, this is true, long ago, how to cook the best chicken feet? throw the live chicken onto hot plate, slowly tune up the heat, chicken run untill die. blood rush to the feet. that how? cruel? yes, but its neccessary. else where got meat to eat.

was invited to a friend's place for BBQ, saw his father do the live crab bbq, totally lost appetite see the crabs struggling to get out of the pit, some even drop one or two limbs along the way ...

haven't heard about the chicken feet one though, that's really cruel :ipuke:

It all depend on how you want to cook the crab ley.....Steam? Stir fry? BBQ? Drunken crab? cold crab meat?

Australian/westerner way is to put them into freezer for 10 or 15 mins....it seem more humane that way.

But in term of taste, best cooked while it is fresh or alive....... :thumbsup:

I heard how they slaughter pig is cut their throat .. let them bleed to death .. i.e. they can collect the pig's blood.

The bleeding process can last a few hours.. I have not seen it myself, but I did heard it once (a few blocks away) ... it was horrible sounding. May be that's why they say "As noisy as killing pig"

Guess many of you are not going to eat pork anymore?

here's how my grandad used to do it.

use a normal table knife.
place it right where their mouth is, then stab it right in.
crab dies instantly.

I am always in charge of killing while my friend is the chief cook.

actually simplest way is to freeze it for a while... hehehe... just throw into freezer for 1 hour... but den u will get frozen crab meat...

erm the very first time i tried to cook crabs - I did this and thinking the crab was dead, I put it in the steamer and the heat woke the crab up and the poor thing was steamed to death! :cry:

Now I would freeze it for about an hour, take it out and stab it with a chopstick.

aiya what difference does it make if its killed in front of you or not - either way, you are still eating something that had been alive. How about going vegetarian if you are worried? ;p

Aiyah, the next time a mosque near you slaughter those Aussie SHEEPS just go down and take a look!

With the other sheeps just a few steps away,one is brought out,
2-3 men will hold down the sheep when one says the prayer and then slit its throat.
Then maybe 2m away, it is hung upside down by its legs, and then the head is cut off, or rather cut and twist until it comes off....

All the innards will then drop through the neck into a hole they dug...

Oh, did I mention the remaining sheeps were just a few steps away?... :sweat:
