just curious khairi, you are one of the many CSers who take photos of ppl on the streets and furthermore, some are closeups of strangers. How do you guys do it without getting confronted by these ppl or are they just willing to be photographed by someone they dunno ?
you guys shoot with dSLR or or P&S when taking such shots ?
alamak...the same tinggling question ...hehehe
"you guys shoot with dSLR or or P&S when taking such shots ?"
Depends on what cam or style you are comfortable with.
If you ask Zaren what cam he use, he uses p&s.
A lot of CS streetshooters prefer to shoot with a small cam or p&s
only a few shoot the streets with slr or dslrs.
It really depends on you and your style. Thus the choice of camera will fit in later, its
not you who fit into the 'aura' of the camera. If you try to fit into the camera,
for everyshot you take or even before you take, you'll start to sense invisible eyes
looking at you from the back and your sides. That creates the disease call 'fear'.
As for me....i started with a small cam like rangefinders and p&s...and since last year
november, i shoot mostly with my dslr and this year...i use my p&s only once.

If you really want a good close up of an interesting subject...just smile, shoot, smile, shoot
smile shoot smile shoot...once they ask, just reply...then shoot smile and say thank you.
and in the process, go in closer and closer and closer and closer and closer...well, that's
how i do it...in fact, i only ask for permission once in a while, most of the times, i never.
u can call it rude it you want to.
You'd be surprised that in fact, singaporeans are more than willing to be photographed
if you do the right approach.
