Kiyomizu-dera
[2015/03/31]

BG Info: Kiyomizu-dera in the afternoon. Today is a warm day where the temperature goes up to about 22degC. We saw that the Sakura Flowers were mostly opened in Kiyomizu-dera and Koudai-ji from the reports at Kyoto Station, so we decided to make our way there. Touristy areas are just full of people, everywhere. There was so much walking and our muscles are sore. Looks like another long night in the Onsen again later.

There is no such thing as Nara without Deer

BG Info: When exiting the Kintetsu Nara station, you can be greeted with many wild deer. Notices around the area can be seen, warning you that although the deer has been tamed, they are still wild and can post a danger to your safety. Naturally, these deer are not aggressive, unless you irritate them enough. Many of the pushcart stores are selling Deer Food at 150yen a stack.

What is USJ without Harry Potter?

BG Info: The luckiest thing we got was a lodging within 5 minutes walk from USJ. At 7am, the gates were already very packed. The gates of USJ opened at 8am, and many people started running, so we followed suit. Many online reviews talked about the Harry Potter: The Forbidden Journey having a super long average waiting time for the ride. We went in while the timer shows 10 minutes waiting time. Finished the ride and came out at 9am. The timer shows 170 minutes average wait time. We went to Flight of the Hippogriff which has a waiting time of 15 minutes. After we finished Hippogriff, the Hippogriff waiting time became 90 minutes and the Forbidden journey became 240 minutes. It has been stuck at 240 minutes ever since. The best part, we have finished both Harry Potter rides by 9:40am and were free to roam the whole park without restrictions.

Sunday afternoon in Osaka Shopping District

BG Info: It is raining again, and very crowded as everybody squeezed inside shelters. As usual, the temperature feels fine, but the strong winds make you feel the chill. Last day in Osaka, reserved for shopping. Spending the afternoon in Dōtonbori, Shinsaibasi and Namba before the flight back tonight from Kansai Airport.

Hmmm. Ya. Most temples disallow tripods. Some disallow cameras. This temple i was in was a popular tourist attraction. So they sort of allow you to bring in camera. But those zones that you are not supposed to take photos have signs warning you about it. Generally most shrines are okay with camera, just be aware of other's privacy which they can report you for harassment and can have you arrested under the law.

After School Haunts

BG Info: The used to be my favourite after school to-go places after lesson ended in University. I tend to spend hours in there looking through books and getting mesmerised by the contents of interesting books. It was on level 3 previously, but now it has shifted upwards and became smaller. Let's see if it will become one of my haunts again.

Business Casual

BG Info: It has been a long time. I remember the heat in Singapore, it has never felt so much better. The last I wore business casual was probably in May last year, right before the attire was switched to "cool biz". After I went to the new department, despite the cool biz season ending, I wore my own set of casual clothes and never switched back to the usual. Everyone in my team was the same, nobody cared about the business causal stipulated in the company's dress code, even the bosses. Business Casual was only seen when they are meeting clients. I did not have any clients at that point of time, so there was no any need for me to go back to Business Casual.

Danboard meets Rensouhou-Chan

BG Info: I saw that Danboard was really popular with many people so I got myself a small one, after some time, Kantai Collection became popular as well and they started selling Rensouhou-Chan. Basically they are of the same series, and I just thought the two of them might like to meet.

Flowers with Incense
[2015/04/10]

BG Info: Normally, we see pushcarts here trying to sell you incense sticks or flowers for offerings. Some people believe that if you buy incense sticks to be used for prayers afterwards, it is counted as donation, because they normally come in bundles, and you wont need to use every single stick most of the time. Most of us uses only 3 sticks of incense. So the rest will be considered given to the temples as donation. It is normally placed outside at the incense area where the contributions will be offered to other people to be used as incense offerings. Many believed that this act of donation also help you gain karma points. Nonetheless, came back to Singapore, pray for good luck.

BG Info: Yishun Interchange, my childhood playground. We used to stay beside the interchange and it was a place where we would go through, regardless of where we were going. Those were the times when we ran for the buses from one end till the other end, both during primary school and secondary school. Now that you will be upgraded, and give way to urbanisation, I am sad to see you go. You will always be a part of our childhood memories. Thanks for the memories.

Financial Power House

BG Info: The financial power house where many bank buildings are located in. On the back of these buildings, we have the Marina Bay Financial Centre, where many corporations place their offices. This may also be Asia's financial power house as Singapore becomes a regional financial hub.
